i like many others said we should trade peppers for cassel in the beginning straight up. and waves of people rushed in to comment on how dumb i was and that anything less than multiple picks including a first was idiotic.......and now ironically we are reported to be in discussions with the pats for the same pick they recieved in return for cassel. yet another year goes by that we refuse to make any moves to aquire a good player at the qb position. we may be good next year hell we might be just as good as we were this year, but when it matters teams will stack the box and make us throw and delhomme cant do that he is our weak link and the reason we will not win a superbowl with this team.

its just frustrating to see us pass up on qb after qb. theres a reason we arent as consistent as the top teams (indy, pats, chargers) and thats quarterback play. instead of a guy who can win a game by himself if the burden falls on his shoulders we have delhomme who trys but just doesnt have the tools. i know our front office is still a little gun shy over kerry collins but come one dont cling to jake like he's freaking joe montana

I said it in the first thread you started, I'll say it again:

We don't run the shotgun spread formation most of the time. We didn't draft Otah, Stewart, Kalil, and switch Wharton to left guard because attempting thirty five passes a game is in the cards.

Seriously, if Cassel wound up here it would be Jeff Garcia in Cleveland all over again. He isn't a good fit for our offense.

Edit:

hahahahahahah you called the Chargers "consistent"

I dont think a Peppers for Cassel trade would have been bad at all.

HOWEVER- I think the REASON you did not see that happen is because the FO does not see the QB position as a need right now.

With the need on the Lines, both Offense and MORE SO defense, they have to be focused on that.

We will still have the same QB who got us to 12-4 and was a big part of winning us some of those games.

Its just needs Vs. wants right now.

We will see how good Cassell is in a different uniform. I think he was too much of a risk. But, I agree we continually overlook the QB position. You can throw whatver stats you want out there about Jake...hes not good enough. Jake is a manager and belongs with a team with a stellar defense, which we currently do not have
