Gross talks about the Red Zone

From Steve Reed: Panthers Looking to Step Up Red Zone Offense

If you're Rob Chudzinski or Ron Rivera, does a comment like this one - made to the media by one of your team leaders - bother you?

I love it. They aren't running it well enough and Gross is 100% spot on to call them (OLINE) out on it. You can bet your arse he has had this discussion behind doors (with his fellow O linemen) and nothing happened so he is taking it public.

Yeah, I believe Gross' comments could be read either way.

He should have clarified a little bit.

Such as, "they don't trust the line or the running game in the redzone, and you know what, at this point, I don't blame them. We are going to continue to work hard to get better to get to the point we feel we can run or pass the ball in any situation. We are going to get it, now fug off."

Whatever you think of Gross' individual performance, I'd say that as a unit, the reason Chudzinski isn't "trusting them to get it done" right now is because they aren't.

Really hate to say that, but objectively speaking, it's true :(

yeah, this isn't a Chud problem, this is an OLine problem. They have handed it off plenty only to find no holes for the RBs to run through.. the redzone only makes it that much harder..

Would have needed to get the quote in the entirety of the conversation to get the overall idea of whether or not this is Gross criticizing Chud, or rather criticizing the offensive line by pointing out that the coaches play calling shows a lack of faith in their performance which they have to improve.

Well said Gross, coaches need to hear that from a Vet player even if they do look the other way, I miss seeing them tough ground and pound red zone yards

some idiot called in to a Charlotte radio show the other day and said "It sounds like everyone is missing Foxball already! I knew they'd miss Fox! We don't run the ball no more!"

here's the deal.. Foxball = run the ball 30 times even if we average 0.00001 yards per attempt. Foxball =/= successful running game. Our run game has never been effective until late (LATE) into the season..

random clarification for the day..

also, you can't get redzone yards with no OLine help.. you can choose 10 run plays in the redzone, but if you only average 1 yard, it's an ineffective play call..

If we are in goal range, I will take 1 or 2 yards than a incomplete pass especially on 1st down, I don't miss fox at all just like them to run that ball with power, so suck balls!

I'm a big fan of Jordan Gross (check the sig).

I'm not a big fan of these types of discussions getting played out through the media.

Again, I think the way it is quoted makes you and others read it as "I, Jordan Gross, disagree with the amount of pass calls in this new offense." when really all it could have just as easily meant was, "As a team, we all know that you want to be able to run just as much in those situations as you pass, I just dont think we are getting it done well enough for coaches trust."

Its funny because when I read that quote I came away encouraged because I read it as a team leader just being honest with the media and calling himself and the unit out. then i come on here and its a Gross vs Chud thing.
