Del Rio: Gabbert starting.

Wait, why are we happy about this? I would have much rather seen Luke McCown and his 1.6 QB rating starting. At least that's a known quantity of suck.

I agree, but I'm happy just because now everyone seems to be getting on the correct page of BELIEVING WE CAN WIN!

Even if the reason for it is illogical. It was illogical to think we can't win because we're in a rebuilding year, anyway so who cares.

If it is Gabbert (we don't know at this point), then I'm as confident as I can possibly be that we will beat the Jags.

Hmmm. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think we've been down this road with the automatic assumption of being able to beat the Bengals and Andy Dalton.

I would much rather say that if the defense do their job much better than they did with Arizona, u guys have a good chance of beating the Jags.

Remember they are 1-1, so they feel way more confident in their chance of beating the Panthers.

I really don't know how well Blaine is playing in practice but I will deduce that if he was playing much better than McCown, he would have been QB 2, and not #3 before Garrard was let go and sitting him on the bench until it was pure garbage time and the game was completely out of reach during Sunday's game before Del Rio sent him in. Something just does not seem right.

But that is just an assumption on my part. Del Rio may very well be just sparing Gabbert from starting to early.

I predicted that Kolb would have a good day passing against our defense, and I predicted that we would lose to AZ, but score more than people were expecting. I'd be happy to point out the thread. Even though I think our defense average at best (that's being kind), I will be totally stunned if Gabbert leads the Jags to victory over us.

Luke was the best QB in practices, followed by Garrard, and then a huge gap between those two and Gabbert.

Based on Gabbert's preseason play...I truly feel bad for Jax fans thinking that he is the holy grail of all quarterbacks. Like seriously, this guy looks to be at Andy Dalton's level of effectiveness...

Reading those Jaguars forums really makes me pity these guys

Isnt that how Cam played in the preseason?

Well, you could say that. But the fact is that Cam delivered the ball down the field consistently and didn't throw an interception and that screamed potential and upside. At the end of the day, the Panthers are a team right now that has screwed themselves out of 2 games because of our inabilities to score inside the 5 yard line.

My problem with Gabbert isn't his talent, but its more of the talent around him that's going to cause him to fail. Outside of MJD and Mercedes Lewis, this is an anemic offense to the point that I could compare it to our offense last year...and our running game was even more balanced last year than Jax's this year.
