The Delhomme comparison is about style of play, not ability. And in reality, the comparison was Delhomme/Elway/Favre

I've been very happy with Newton so far, but I'll critique him the same as I would any other player.

That said, if you can read posts like the one examining his first TD (linked in a prior post) and still think I'm down on him, you're reading with your own blinders on.

Don't include Delhomme in an Elway/Favre talk. Delhomme was nowhere near the gunslinger that either Elway or Favre were...they didn't even play that similarly. Delhomme couldn't deliver a ball down the middle consistently if it was his job, and that's why he doesn't have one.

Style, not ability.

Stylewise, Tim Couch is the same kind of player as Peyton Manning. Their ability levels are just a tad different though.

I don't know what to say other than this is a dumb post. You're clearly new to the fanbase, which is okay, but don't make ill informed statements like this. Jake was a Top 10 QB in his prime. And since I ignored you in the other thread, I guess I'll just say it here-but Andy Dalton has been solid in his first two games.

Ajirotutu & Pilares will get significant time at receiver before Edwards does.

Edwards is all legs, nothing else. I'm ready to see him in the wildcat, though.

I'm not so sure about that. Pilares will most likely be inactive for the entire season. I think Armanti got in for one passing play at the very end of the game.

I'd take LaFell myself.

As to why Naaneenaaneenaanee is starting I'd assume that it's a combination of the fact that Rivera hates mental errors and LaFell has not shown himself to be consistent. If you can make circus sideline catches when you want to but fail to hold onto simpler catches it has to be easy to see that as a loss of concentration which amounts to a mental error. If LaFell continues to show up for a few weeks and Naanee continues to do everything in his power to NOT show up I imagine we'll see a reversal on the depth chart.

With that said though...does it really even matter? Gone are the days of "holy fug the Panthers have more than two receivers on the field? Alert the media - get the president underground - buy water and duct tape - the world is ending!". Besides even if Naanee holds the #2 spot on the chart if he sucks we'll see more targets to LaFell regardless (I hope)

I actually did think Edwards would be the number three by now.

Depth chart would have him at number four, but we haven't seen him show up in that role on field yet.

If it isn't already obvious, I really do hope they begin to give Armanti some reps. With Lafell most likely taking Naanee's spot why wouldn't you give AE some reps as the number 3 in the slot.

He's been playing special teams hasn't he? I'm not sure what to think about him. I've never seen the guy catch a pass.

Well, at least in the regular season, we haven't seen Edwards do that either :(

Thought I saw Ajirotutu in on an offensive play this past Sunday, though I'd have to consult the tape to be sure.
