But one thing I always remembered, and I'll never forget is a conversation I had with Norv Turner about Phillip Rivers when we were first there. The one thing when we were first there was our 1st 8 games were tough because we threw the ball a lot.

Everyone was talking about how good we used to run it with LT (LaDanian Tomlinson) well one thing I asked Norv about and he said:"Well Ron, until Phillip learns this we've got to stick with it because we're not gonna be able to win these games later." Lo and behold that's what happens now and look at what San Diego can do with Phillip, they now can win those types of games. Well you(we) would like to be in the same boat obviously when it comes down to it (if) you have to throw it to win it, the kid can do it.

I like that approach if that is truly what we are doing (it sure seems like we are). Throw the kid into the fire, see if he holds up. He is and he will continue to. They're creating a fuging monster. The NFC South is screaming "STOP IT!" but Rivera just says "shut up motha fugas" and continues to work on Frankenstein.

I thought Rivera stated pretty clearly upon his arrival that he wanted a defense that was going to dictate to offenses. Similarly, he wanted an offense that was going to impose its will on opposing defenses. Run, Run, play defense doesn't sound like that to me.

I remember him talking about "balance" which most people would interpret as an even ratio of run and pass. I wrote a post about what I took it to mean, which was fairly close to your take.

Honestly, Mike never gave me the impression he really does his homework on anyone. Just simply repeats what he hears.

I like that Rivera is putting Cam's development first and foremost in the plans for the offense.

He certainly appears to have a long range view of things.

I love the approach that he learned from Norv and I'm glad we have Chudzinksi, a Norv disciple, to execute Cam's development plan.

I transcribed this interview because I read a lot of threads/post about the lack of balance in the offense.

I thought this interview gave a clear picture of their mindset and goals on offense.

Watching the Panthers the last 2 weeks has felt like watching the Patriots, Colts(Manning team) or Chargers.....same type of offense.

Its not as unbalanced as we think though, Stewart had 100 yards receiving. Those are dump passes, another form or running the ball in today's NFL

If Belichick thinks he has an advantage in the running game, he will run it down your throat. If he thinks his advantage is in the passing game, you might see him throw the ball 98% of the time.

I don't think the offense will remain this unbalanced.

Eventually the offense will correct itself as the season progresses, I suspect it will begin if/when the offense plays with the lead.

Rivera said, they're throwing a lot early specifically to get Cam comfortable/ready.

And going back and looking at Chudzinski run/pass ratio he's been balanced with a slight favor towards the run/pass ration in Cleveland: 46/54.
