Girl Sees Her Face for the First Time

They really don't care.

They feel they are perfectly fine and deaf for a reason. I feel they are being a bit uppity. Anything that helps a child to experience life a bit better is nothing short of great.

this is definitely a case....they feel they are "gifted" or lacking hearing b/c that was the way they were meant to be. they have their own society, and a lot of them think they should only marry or socialize in their own "community". everyone else is outsiders.

a deaf baby born to deaf parents is seen more as a blessing than a burden.

Very true.

#4 PanthaSon was born with hearing issues. We got tubes put in and the results were noticeable 1 hour after the surgery recovery. One of MamaSan's co-workers (who is deaf) told her that it was wrong and he (my Son) willnot get a "Name Sign" if he has them in.

A Name Sign is sort of like the deaf version of the Native American Nameing Ceremony. They get a sign issued to them from the community based on their name.
