NFL.com Peppers/Patriots *possible* update

I'd take two 2nds. Absolutely. That would give us 3 2nd rounders and 17 mil of cap room. Extend Delhomme 2 more seasons. And BOOM our cap number just exploded. Lock up Davis and the others that are due contracts, sign a couple of free agents, and Im ready to kick back and wait for the draft.

they better throw in that pretty #25 (?) pick they're sitting on too. i don't care if they set a precedence for franchise players by only getting a 2nd for cassel!!!!

I look at it this way...how many other franchised players had only 16 games of NFL experience in their career like Cassel does? None. And Pep would not be a DE in their system, so he isn't worth a 1st rounder as a DE.

I'd pull the trigger on that one... we need to get rid of Peppers.

High 2nd round choice isn't bad because we won't have to spend big bucks and theres always some good first round guys that fall.

not to mention the 17 million in cap space we desperately need to sign some depth for our lines

I could POSSIBLY see them doing something with Jarvis Green, but not Ty. And I think if they would do that (and I don't think it's likely) they would want a pick form Carolina too. I do think either of those guys could help a bunch @ DE. Jarvis has more 4-3 experience though (he's usually the guy they put in @ DE when they use a 4-3 while Warren is their base 3-4 LDE). I don't think it's supposed to be a good year for 3-4 DEs in the draft so I really think that no other player will be involved.

Well I know Ty was a former first round pick. Plus since he's used to teaming up with only 2 other guys to try to take on 5 linemen, he could make a good transition to a newfound Tampa 2 scheme that we're supposed to be implementing (so i hear) where pressure on the QB is heavily reliant on the front four and that's basically it.

It shouldn't be Pep for a 34th cut and dry. Make that trade straight up everybody on espn and wherever are going to talk about how NE robbed us. Pep is better than just no.34 and Jenkins was better than the 3rd+5th we got for him last year. If this trade is made the way it is, I mean is Hurney good at negotiating at all?

C'mon there's gotta be a better deal out there somewhere.

NE needs to throw something else in. Some Oline depth, or Dline, or CB depth preferred.

wait, how could this happen? technically, the Pat's can't even talk to us about Pep until he signs his franchise tender. so how are details being worked out?

They talk to us thru JP's agent. They kinda make the deal and our FO will agree or disagree.

"They" meaning the pats and the peppers camp make a deal and hope that the panthers bite. pep's agent will be the one talking to hurney and will be the primary agent trying to get all the parties to agreement.

only problem is peppers is the only client his agent has so i don't know how much experience he has in matters like this.

that, imo, has been one of the problems with the whole situation. if the agent has no experience handling anything of this magnitude, has that crippled everything?
