NFL.com Peppers/Patriots *possible* update

No. Nobody is going to give us what Hurney wants, and he is foolish to even entertain the idea of getting two 1st round picks. I'm just being realistic. A high 2nd and a 3rd or maybe another 2nd, and getting his ridiculous salary off the books would be a very good deal on our side. We can re-sign Davis and Williams. Get some decent FA's, and sign our draft picks. That would make for a great off-season. IMO.
the 2 1st rounders isn't something that hurney pulled out of his butt. that is what they are entitled to since they franchised him. if peppers wants to go somewhere else then he needs to find someone willing to give up 2 firsts for him or a deal that the panthers will agree to. if he can't then peppers will remain a panther which is what the panthers would prefer.

if he wants to play next year, he needs to find a team willing to pay the panthers what they deserve or play for the panthers.

hurney said 2 first rounders because that is what the CBA says they deserve.

The more I think about this deal, the better it looks. Get's rid of Pep, frees up cap space, it's pick 34 so there won't be much of a drop off between a late first and an early second, and it's probably the best deal we can get.

he is worth more than that to all interested parties.

Right, but nobody in their right mind is going to give them that. The Panthers should cut their losses with him and agree to the 2nd rounder, but they should push The Cheatriots for another 2nd or maybe a 3rd.

if 34 year old Jason Taylor on a decline got a second round pick then Peppers is worth a #1

Yea and then look at what the Cowgirls gave for Roy Williams.........

If all these players who aren't even as good as Pep can get these nice picks, and we get the shaft, well words won't really describe how bad that sucks I guess.

Yep I've made up my mind this is how it goes down

We trade peppers outright for two of New England's 2nd rounders and their 3rd rounder.

We walk away with 3 2nd round picks and two 3rd round picks to try recover from the loss of peppers. The 17 million in cap space won't hurt either.

New England walks away with a franchise DE/OLB. They still have a 1st and 2nd round pick so they have a solid amount of draft picks to work with.

Neither organization is stupid and this seems like the most balanced way to sort things out win/win.

That would be great honestly.

Except that part where NE wins a few more SB's.

Seriously though if we could come away with that..........

Someone said this earlier. Now that the info is leaked we have better leverage. We know they want him and we should be able to get another 2nd from them. Two 2nd instead of 2 1st. I think that is fair. NE is always trying to pull a fast one and get the upperhand in a deal. Lets see if we can get them to even the odds some.

Go Panthers

Nah, we don't have any leverage. We need room to breathe cap wise. Our best bet at getting that is Pep. So we may end up getting lowballed. If we keep him, he may or may not play...and we get shafted that was as well.

The ball is not in our court.

I just want this mess over with.
