NFL.com Peppers/Patriots *possible* update

a move like this will allow us to concentrate on our front four

A move like this will destroy our front four. No way do we get the same worth out of that 2nd round pick than we do with Peppers. I understand he has to go, but for just one second round pick?

agreed. weighted more on the defensive side of things but still...we get those solid and deep and we will be good to go.

People are forgetting that there are and will be a lot of solid FA's even after the draft. There are some capable folks out there, but teams with those direct needs are going to wait until after the draft to see if they can fill those needs with longterm young players.

Even after the draft you will see some suprise cuts (remember meshawn ;) - kinda miss that guy lol lol)

We need STARTING Caliber players for our defensive line (again argghhh)

So I hope this offseason we can be pro-active and get it done so in Jan we are not sitting around wondering what went wrong.

Pep ain't going anywhere for anything less than a 1st and a second... Miami is the only one that's close to offering that, and we're just as content with forcing Pep to play as a Panther at one year franchise deals from here on out...

Regardless of what Carl Carey thinks, we own all the leverage... Pep can play as a Panther, or he can not honor his contract and sit out of football... That's the bottom line... If we were that desperate to move him, he would be gone already... We have no interest in the FA market, and are content enough with our current team/draft position that we will stand pat.. no pun intended....

So...what happens when we have 14 on IR like a few years back? This team, that we're perfectly fine in standing pat with (as you guess), would crumble. We HAVE to find depth before the season starts, not to mention sign our draft picks. All this Pep talk today is the result of two things: 1) him not wanting to be here and us honoring that, and 2) we just realized we can't add depth since we have no money really. All this talk is the result of us shooting ourselves in the foot over how Pep has been handled thus far and the Patriots are primed to pounce. It may work out in the end, and I hope it does, but right now it looks as if we're being taken advantage of. Let's get it done already so we can add depth please!

And I disagree with the "let's just get a first round talent at a second round price tag". We'll have close to 17 million to play with. I think we can afford a 1st (though technically we bought it last year).

This is just like hurney, when he was too suborn to let Jenkings go for a first and second round pick, then a year later was offered a 2 and 4th, then we ended up getting a 3 and 5th rounder for him. All because he thought he was going to be able to get two first.

Our front four isn't that good anyway. Personally, I think we could get the same performance for a much smaller price.

the more i think about this, the more i hate it.

the thing that would piss me off more than anything is that it would be the patriots screwing us...again.

i hate them.

i hate them more than the cowboys.

the cowboys suck but the patriots....they just keep kicking everybody's arse on and off the field. one way or the other.

they pull this off and they just prove that they aren't just better than everyone else...they prove that they own us.

they do this to us and we allow it then we deserve to get raped.

we can't let this happen. we can't be this weak that we will bow to the pats.

imo, that would be worse and more embarrassing than what happened against the cardinals in the playoffs.

your looking at the future of our defense as just next year.

We could use the cap space to extend thomas davis, and then potentially have a ton of cap room to throw around next year which could also be an uncapped year.

not to mention a high 2nd round pick to use on the defensive line, and lets face it, this years defensive line class isn't exactly stellar.

I think its a smart move. I also don't think the 34th pick is all we would come away with from NE

See, you are overlooking the oppertunity :D

Just think how great you would feel when we beat Peppers and the Pats in the SuperBowl ;)
