NFL.com Peppers/Patriots *possible* update

Anyone else think that the Patriots are the ones that leaked the story about Denver trying to trade for Cassel. IMO Denver was going about it in a very sly way. It could be that Belechick is just as unhappy with McDaniels leaving as he was with Mangini leaving.

After all the fall out with Cutler, Denver might be willing to "get back at" the Patriots by stealing Peppers away from them. I could see Denver offering their 1st rounder for Peppers and then some if it meant getting back at Belechick for leaking the Cutler/Cassel trade.

Maybe I'm fishing too much...

I like Peppers for the 34th pick.

Two 2nd rounders, and a crap load of cap space to revamp our defensive line over the next 2-3 years

We have the offense to set us up for a nice run over the next 3-5 years, a move like this will allow us to concentrate on our front four and possibly the QB position.

But so far the deal is for a single 2nd rounder, (34). Truth be told, I don't think it will end up being that, I think they will get another pick for him or be content to keep him, but keeping him will get expensive in what we would have to do to keep the cap in control. Quarterback moves are simply out of the question this year, there are too many other areas that require fixing...

Our biggest needs are on both sides of the line.

Tackles, be it offense of defense are a concern. Great for us that our skill positions are in good order, but games are won and lost in the trenches.

agreed. weighted more on the defensive side of things but still...we get those solid and deep and we will be good to go.

YOur not fishing too much if McDaniels feels screwed by 'Darth Hoodie'. You just don't know.

I really doubt that Pep goes with a 2nd. We would be better off keeping him one more season then to let him go for such a low price. Besides he would be playing us this year so it would be expected to get some more in compensation. IMO if we lose Pep for a 2nd round pick we will pay for it this season and next.

and to quote myself

What I said is probably whats going on, he can't start haggling with other teams if we don't have a bar set for the initial value and what teams are willing to trade set.

Could quite possibly be his agent also. NE is not gonna pay Peppers much money. Bank on that.

Screw that deal.

Say we do trade him and clear the cap space. Who are all these great free agents we are going to sign? It's not like there is a ton of talent out there waiting to be signed. Yea, we get to keep Kyle. woo hoo!!

I'd rather keep a half-ass Peppers than GIVE him to those cocksucking Pats.
