Hold on, so now getting a 2nd round pick is better than a 1st, because we would have to pay a 1st too much $? By that logic, we should be trading away our 1st rounders every year in search of the cheaper 2nd and 3rd rounders.

I'm pretty sure this has been said before, but I'm about willing to bet Dollars to Doughnuts that it was Marty Hurney who was the unnamed League source, think of it as in "here's the offer we have gotten so far can I get the 33rd over all pick or better now".

So don't get your panties in a wad yet about the 34th over all pick, because as the saying goes it aint over till it's over.

Yes but Don Gregory has only been on board for 2007 and 2008. And out of those two years he's gotten Kalil (solid starting center it appears) and Jarrett, and I don't think we can judge him until after this year. It's make or break time for him. Certainly no reason assume our second round picks will suck this year.

I wouldn't trade Peppers for a Kahil caliber player, although it would be nice to get atleast one player that can start out of the deal and not another Dwayne Jarret or someone that will take years to develop into a starter.

you need to learn to read things in context of when they are written. he was saying that 2nd round picks aren't crap and that we have gotten a quality player like Kalil in the 2nd before.

What I said is probably whats going on, he can't start haggling with other teams if we don't have a bar set for the initial value and what teams are willing to trade set.

LOL! Count me in as uber-excited to get one of these high-quality players in exchange for Pep!

Under the new director of college scouting we've gotten Marshall, Jarrett, and Kalil. Not to mention Beason as a low first rounder. While Jarrett hasn't done much yet, I'm not ready to shut the door on him yet as he showed a lot of promise when he got on the field this year.
