Panthers claimed LB Jason Phillips off waivers from the Ravens.

Someone in the Carolina front office must've had a high grade on Phillips coming out of TCU, because he's hardly played. A two-down thumper type like new Panthers starting MLB Dan Connor, Phillips will focus on special teams.

Move is becoming more and more baffling. Can't contribute now, and won't do so in the future. Seems like a lazy move just to fill the roster up so Hurney doesn't miss his evening Starbucks.
