Thomas Davis tears ACL

He will be cut at the end of the year. The 7 million or whatever pro-rated portion left of his signing bonus will count against subsequent cap years (possibly all next year).

Ohhhhh nooooooo not a 1.2 million dollar hit on a cap every years that's going to raise astronomically after the new TV contracts. WHAT WILL WE EVER DO!?!?!?!? His contract was structured to only guarantee one year in case of injury, hence my injury clause comment, it's not direct "clause" but it's definitely an injury insurance policy.

Not to mention that I think they put his entire bonus against the cap this year so it doesn't matter.

No. His bonus counts against subsequent years.

TD salary was only guaranteed for this year per beat writers.

Beyond that, who cares? Richardson should spent every dime he can to put a winner out there. Unless it hamstrings signing someone, it doesn't matter and I don't understand why people get so unstrung by it. Draft picks who play well deserve to be compensated.

I feel awful for TD. Great player when healthy and better man. My wife's best friend works at Levine's Children Hospital and TD spends more time than any other player up there among his other charity work.

Severely unlucky. People shouldn't question anything about the guy's toughness after him rehabbing twice. He's probably done career wise, but just like Dan Morgan, he gave his all when he was out there.
