Thomas Davis tears ACL

Everyone stops complaining about his contract. The panthers are well protected, he gets this years salary then an avg of 1.7mil a year i think it is over the rest of the contract(bonus avg per season). There was a clause in the contract that if he couldnt come back and fully recover then the panthers could decline the final 4 years on his contract. Like a 1 year option for 4 more years, in which over those 4 years he would receive a much higher amount of money.

My question is, if we cut him, which I would imagine happens after the season, if they would be intrested in re-signing him to a minimum contract to see if the 3rd surgery is the charm.

If he makes the roster next year, he gets an $8mil roster bonus...

Ah, ok.

But still listen to your last statement. 3rd surgery the charm?! Dude, after two it should be enough.. He's done. Need to cut our losses and let the guy go. Look at next years draft for LB's as well.

Sarcasm ftw about the 3rd surgery.

In my opinion, it would be worth bringing him back for one year at a vet minimum to see if he just had 3 freak injuries. Unlikely, but low risk high reward.

And when the panther's decline the option on the last 4 years, the contract is done and over with. That contract would have no bearing on what would happen if we were to resign him for a minimum.

After hearing the news earlier I was sad, very sad. One of my favorite players that brings the heat on every play. He was a great OLB and it's just fug'd up that he tore his ACL 3 times, I mean what kind of crap is that?

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone tearing the same ACL 3 times in the such a short period of time. Wow, the football gods have cursed us the last few years with injuries.

:cryin:

I haven't read this thread at all due to the agony of losing one of my personal favorite panthers and personas, but why are there so many who think this is "it"? I'm not being a smart ass, I understand one can only endure so much mentally and physically, but i'm sure mentally he's not going to give up, so is it just unlikely that he'll ever heal properly after so much scar tissue or something? what gives? (besides the ligaments)
