Thomas Davis tears ACL

how many 1-3 rd linebackers should a team carry? 6? 7?

More than we have... Heck, even some good ones in the 4th-7th rounds that we could have had instead of crappy players like:

Tony Pike - could have had Dekoda Watson, Jamar Chaney, or Kavell Conner

Everette Brown, Corvey Irvin, Tony Fiammetta - could have had pretty much any good LB in that draft

We've basically ignored LB depth for years, which is depressing considering the injuries we've had there...

hopefully there is some kind of medical void in his contract otherwise hurney is a fuging tard. Let's sign the guy who has an ACL made out of paper to a big contract!

Have you not paid attention and read ANY of the posts or threads outlining TD's contract?

After your moronic post, I will take that as a NO!!!!!

Wow..this really does just completely suck. TD was a really good guy. I think his career is done. I'd love to keep him around the team in some capacity as a minority coaching intern then break him into position coaching eventually. I wish him and his family all the best. This is a huge blow to a season that had some promise and to a player who deserved much better than this.

since 04, we've averaged a LB every 7 draft picks, including 2 1st rounders and two 3rd rounders. We've also traded for at least 1.

how often should we draft LBs? I'm upset about this too but arguing that we should've drafted more LB instead of positions of definitive need; DT, DE, FB (regardless of how those picks turned out) is silly.

(hopefully "silly" won't get me an infraction.)

Yea there's a lot of positions that we've ignored, but LB isn't one of them. I don't think we should be criticizing Hurney and the FO decision making skills on this. Players get injured it's the nature of the NFL. I feel that the contract we gave TD was fair to him and the team given his history. The contract we gave Beason was completely justified seeing as how he has played every game since his rookie year. This is a big blow to our team but the people who make the decision will do what they have to do to keep us fighting.

man this is the worst news of this season. poor TD, I love that guy, damn it.

I don't even know what to say. It feels like everyone we gave huge contracts to so far has been busted up or ineffective. I feel like we virtually wasted free agency after all the talk of opening up the pocket books. I know we had to resign our guys, but I wish we could have brought in more proven, young talent... but oh well.

Blech.

edit: Except CJ, who has been beasting. Guy was worth every dollar... he and hardy have us set for some time.
