Adding Wes Welker

Wes Welker will probably leap ahead once we get on our bye week.. It's amazing that even though the pats had their bye last sunday Welker is still extremely close to Smith in total receiving yards.

It's all cause of that Jacksonville game...Smitty's average in the games excluding Jacksonville is 133.8 yds per game which would put him on pace for 2,141 yds, but the Jacksonville game really hurt that average (knocks it down by almost 20 yds per game at 116.8).

Updated the last two games...

Needs 931 more yards to break the record. Needs to average 116 ypg for the rest of the season.

so essentially he has to repeat what he did the first half of the season.....

not to be a debby downer but I just don't see that happening....he's having a hell of a season though regardless

I know Smitty HOF chances werent hurt by the last two seasons, but if he breaks Rice's single season record that has to put him back up on the cusp! Of course if he finishes out his career like this year I think he has a shot. Also a ring would improrve his odds too.

The season where he won the "Triple Crown" of receiving he had 103 receptions, 12 TD's and something like 1580ish yards.

This season he is on pace for 92 receptions, 1836 yards and 8 TD's, and he is 6 years older and past what you would call his prime.

If the people that vote in HOF players don't realize that if he had even a modicum of talent at the QB position for the length of his career that he would have probably broken most relevent receiving records, than the whole process is a joke IMO.
