Chud's one-dimensional offense

Huddles logic

Two years ago- "Run on first second and third down....wtf you have to pass. god I hate our boring offense"

Now- "Yea well not only have we showed more life in these last two weeks than we did all of last year, and yea Cam may have put up record numbers.... but I'll be damned if we don't run it some more"

Seriously some of you people have serious mental issues if you are complaining. The point of the game is to move the chains....we are doing that through the air, not the ground. I have complete faith that teams are going to wise up and stop blitzing Cam like crazy, and that will help the running game tremendously. Plus our run game notoriously takes a few Sundays to get going each year....even in 2008.

Stop fuging whining, I am honestly more concerned with us losing Chud because someone will want him as a head coach next year.

This is nothing against the OP, just the general ambiance I have gathered from reading multiple threads today.

I agree except with "running more". It's not a certain number that needs to be achieved, rather than it needs to be effective when called upon and instances when it should be called upon.

There were plays where we should have ran versus GB and elected to pass, just like in year's past when we ran on 3rd and forever where a draw up the gut was the play of choice. My only issue is, we should and CAN get short yardage on the ground and electing not to do so. Passing for third and short and on the goal line is okay, but getting there the old fashion way will be just fine with fans too.

At the end of the year, Cam will have a decent amount of rushing yards anyways so for the stat guys we won't be at the bottom.

So am I the only one here bothered by our two first round draft picks at RB (one with a spanking new multi-million dollar deal) COMBINING for 18 yards?

I do. I mentioned that in my first post of the thread. I'm very confused at this point where Chud wants to take our offense. We sign D.Will to a huge deal then don't run the ball. But with the explosiveness of our offense, I really can't complain.

I think we are passing because teams are expecting us to run and we have played two great offensive minded teams where we need to score a lot to win. I think Cam is learning a lot with all of these plays and hopefully it will help him in the long run. We can win games if we can run the ball more. I am just happy to see our team being able to compete against every team including the Superbowl champs. I know we are not winning but then agian who cares because we aren't planning on winning this year.

he prefers to throw a lot, the run game gave him an excuse to throw a lot, and cam responded well enough to justify continuing to throw a lot. it was a bit extreme today though, esp down in the red zone

edit: overall i'm not really *that* mad that we are relying on cam heavily. if we can be competitive with him getting lots of reps then that is great for the future

The coaches obviously need to put more emphasis on running the ball during practice. We arguably have the most talented stable of RBs in the league. I really think if we get this ground game going it will take pressure of Cam and he won't have to throw the ball 40 times a game which in turn is gnna eliminate a lot of rookie mistakes. Plus, I miss DWill sprinting dwn the sideline for a 70yd touchdown and JStew running over 8 defenders b4 finally being brought dwn.

It's just a different run game. The holes will open for a more traditional run game but the short dump passes to our backs and screens and swings are all by design. It's more or less just an extension of our more traditional run game. Our backs had over 160 all purpose yards today, quitcherbitchen.

Winner! The o-line was so bad at run blocking, Chud has decided to just go around it. Think Eagles with Westbrook. I would like to see more power running, but it just wasn't working. With the way teams have been blitzing and playing contain the screen/dump is potent. Take 'em where you can get 'em.

He's just responding to what works and what doesn't. Under Fox we would stick with the run even if we were getting stuffed every play. Now, if we get stuffed we throw.

Fact is, the running game has been given a chance early in games, but hasn't responded. For whatever reason. I fully expect Rivera to make this a top priority moving forward because this won't cut it. We can't depend on Cam to do everything.

But no, I don't blame Chud for the lack of a run game at all. Why run for 2.0 YPC when your QB is throwing for 400 yards a game?
