I liked Pugh a ton coming out of college, so my patience with him is far from exhausted. But it's clear he's being thrown into the fire here at the start of the season. I don't know if it's a short term pain for long term gain kind of thing, or McD/Rivera just refusing to simplify his duties or give him some help. But if you want to stay in close games, you've got to change something up until he starts to take better angles and hang onto his cover better.

Maybe he has potential, but he's proven that he shouldn't be on the field at this point. He's costing us out there big time.

I'm more worried about the OL than the secondary. We have no push in the run game at all.

I was thinking about making a thread about how bad he has been. I am happy to see I am not the only one to see this. I am thinking that maybe we shouldn't use Godfrey as our nickleback and use butler so Godfrey can be our safety and Pugh can be on the bench.

Pugh really has been pretty terrible these two games. I can only guess Butler is still learning the defense. Hopefully he can start soon and put Munnerlyn back where he belongs, in nickle packages. Everyone not named Gamble has been playing a bit under expectations, but judging by these two games Pugh has no business being activated on game days. In the nickle we should be playing 3 CBs and 2 Safeties as I think our top 5 DBs fit that alignment. On a related note, I hope Godfrey just got the wind knocked out of him today and didn't get a concussion or anything like that. The drop off from our 2 starting Safeties to our two backups is enormous.

Pugh is good against the run, inconsistent against the pass.

Sounds just like Godfrey from 2 years ago, I don't like him back there with Godfrey at nickelback, just too much is going wrong. We need to switch up our "NASCAR" package, if that's what it was called.

On another note, anyone know anything about Hogan? His return should also help our secondary, at least as a backup until he gets spun up to speed.
