Cam Newton 432 yards passsing

He'a clearly shown he's a legit NFL QB. Is he elite, or even in the top 1/3? Potential but not yet. But come on, he's clearly a legit NFL QB, with 850+ after his first two starts.

I'm not ready to say that yet, Volek had two 400 yard games back to back and he's a career backup.

Stats don't make you a legit NFL QB, especially in an offense that doesn't know what running the ball is.

I'm reserving judgment.

Sure Volek has done it and is a career backup but only five guys besides Cam have thrown for 400+ in two consecutive games and I'd say 4 out of the 5 are legit QB's.

Amazing that u never use ur favorite QB's stats and his reasons for not being an elite QB as an example for argument against Cam..So telling aren't u?

We are a young team with a new coaching staff. We are competitive. We are exciting to watch. We are relevent again. Unfortunately, we are 0-2. But what an exciting 0-2.

It takes time to learn how to win. For both players and coaches. These last two games will go a long way in leading us in that direction. If we can beat the Jags this week, it will show this team that they absolutely can win. Once that feeling sinks in, we will absolutely be a dangerous team.

Cameron is not perfect. But after two games, nobody expects him to be. Oh, except maybe the doubterz and the haterz. But my Zod is he not exciting. My giddy was in overdrive today.

Cannot stop the giddy, and GOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!

I've seen the list.

I'll give you 3/5

4-8 record in those games

Yeah, a QB is throwing for 400+ is a pretty good indication that the team is gonna lose. But we are talking about Cam being a legit NFL QB.

Everything he has done has indicated that he can compete at the NFL level. I'm not saying he's anywhere near where he needs to be, but I'm already convinced that I would take a rookie Cam over 2003 Jake Delhomme or 1996 Kerry Collins, both of whom I'd consider legit NFL QBs.

432 yards in his 2nd game. Not a whole lot of NFL QBs get 400 yard games in a whole season. Some only have a few 400 yard games in their career. Cam already has TWO after two games in his rookie year.

Cam is a heavy hitter. Unfortunately the same guys with a lot of home runs often strike out too much too. Cam needs to be a risk taker and "gun slinger" like Brett Favre but not TOO much. Otherwise, he throws way to many picks like Jay Cutler has in his career.

Those picks definitely hurt Cam's QB rating this week. Cam is probably overconfident about the accuracy of his arm when he is throwing off balance on his back foot, etc.

Cam needs to have super quick feet so he can get in the ideal throwing position for any type of throw. Drew Brees is really good at this. He has to have great footwork since he's only 6 feet tall. Tom Brady is good at this too. He's always trying to use the perfect throwing motion with good footwork no matter what the situation is. The best golfers do the same thing.

Stats are for losers. Win-loss matters. We are an improved team, but the play calling and Cam's performance in the red zone must improve.

You state the obvious. Two games in, do you think that we're seeing anywhere near a finished product?

If these were two games in year 4 or 5 (it's still impressive) but I think the stats matter because it's game 1 and 2 of his CAREER!

3 drops by Smith and 2 other easy catches missed by Naanee didn't help his rating either. But overall I'd say he also wasn't as accurate as he was last week. He can only get better going forward.
