Cam Newton 432 yards passsing

Cam made enough rookie plays that you can't really say he played excellent unless you add the conditional "for a rookie", but he played tough and he showed that he very well could be one of the next great NFL QBs. At times he looked like a rookie but more often than not I felt like we had a chance on any given play on offense, something I haven't felt before in some time (ok, not since 2009 with Moore, but still :p)

Now we need to work on our redzone offense...

I think the redzone stuff will come with time and not only is Cam learning how to work in the red zone but ,just as importantly, the staff is learning how to best utilize Cam down there. That is the kind of stuff that will just happen with time...hopefully.

Anyone who comes on here with the SOLE purpose of trying to detract from the teams/Cams effort today or this year, has emotional problems. Coming on a team message board and TRYING to be the center of attention is a serious cry for help.

agree, this should be posted as a warning before every post of the TRD's.

Sorta like most rookies?? Just wait until he gets a little bit better fundamentally and some experience to make better decisions before the ball is even snapped

You have to admit that the sky is the limit for this guy. Still has a lot to prove but for being a rookie I am not sure how you can't be excited.

It may not happen this year but the kid is already explosive, just wait until he actually knows what he is doing also.

We've been waiting a while for his fundamentals, they hurt him today.

I have already admitted his ceiling is insanely high, did that a long time ago.

Yeah he makes some big plays. He's also been the beneficiary of some broken coverages. When GB rushed 4 or less, he struggled. I lost my connection on that last drive so not sure what defense they were in on the big play by Smith in mop up time. They blitzed early and got beat. They played zone and forced turnovers.

Cam also made some great throws and missed some easy ones. He got sacked when no one touched him then had some good runs.

I'm not ready to say he'll be top 5, but he's shown plenty of good things but some bad things as well. It'll be interesting to see how teams defend him in the future.

I just find it funny when the kid has a nice statistical game but everyone is so sensitive about him, they have to talk it up and can't just let it be. Someone mentioned he had a 73 rating. He threw 40 times against a team missing their starting corner. His backs were his leading receivers (when I lost connection).

He didn't do it alone and like I said before, it's not the numbers he puts up but how he does it.

while everything you said is true, I don't think it is a negative that his backs were his leading receivers for a good part of the game. he is finally learning to take what a defense gives him, which is something he absolutely struggled with in the preseason and even against arizona.

he's got plenty to work on, but like you said... his ceiling is insane. I've seen no evidence that he'll stop working for any reason so Im hopeful he'll keep getting better...

It's not a negative but it gives context to the game.

I'm sure he'll get better but I'm also sure teams' defensive philosophy will change the more they see him.

A while? You mean 2 REAL GAMES? How he does it? He did it without a running game to speak of and a OC who asked his ROOKIE to throw 40 something times against the WORLD CHAMPS. Where the hell do some panther fans get off acting so entitled? Unreal.

Good game to watch. Cam looks very good even with his mistakes. I like how he just walked off the field when he ran it in no TD celebration. If....if Carolina had a running game then this team really takes off.

sorry huddle...longtime since i've been on the forum...just got transfered to philly...and Cam is all over the radio...what happen to the running game.He can't be the leading rusher every week...once the running game get rolling we will be rolling we might make a playoff run...please believe...we are back...we can once again compete.

See Mav, this is why you bring up his RB as his leading receivers.

This is why you bring up zone vs man.

These are the discussions that are prohibited on the Huddle.

Even when you give congratulations, but want to look deeper, you have this guy.

What is he supposed to do, play defense as well? In the history of the panthers franchise nobody ever threw for as many yards as he did today.

Defense played fairly well...they were on the field most of the day due to turnovers.

There are some positives...I just hate that we lost another game in the exact same fashion as last week.

Did I miss the part where you said I was wrong and offered a counter point? You may think back-handed compliments are cute. They aren't.
