Yeah, not a good game for Smitty. He needs to focus & help his rookie QB out. He really hurt the team today.

Since I don't think anyone actually answered you....he didn't. He was hit in the elbow which popped the ball out.

He was however either celebrating too early, or trying to keep the ball close to the out of bounds line. He should know better than hold the ball like that. he got cocky.

I wouldn't say Smith had a great day. The fumble and a couple EASY drops. For a vet, it was an off day. Over half his yards came on 2 plays (the screen that went for about 30 and the 60 yard bomb at the end). Gotta catch the easy ones.

Switching to stiff arm was ridiculous. Gotta have awareness. Would have been, what, a 20-30 yard gain? Instead, it's a turnover. Gotta be smart. Just go down.
