Trade Up For Sanchez?

Recommended Posts

If he stayed, next year he would've been a top 3 - 5 pick.

No he came out this year because he knew he wouldn't. He won't be a top 3-5 pick this year, so if he could have made more money next year he would have stayed that poo makes no sense.

He came out because of all the QB's (much better QB's) coming out next year.

His coach told him to stay because of that reason, he just wanted to leave USC for some reason, everyone was predicting him as a top 5 pick next year. With him being the second rated QB in the draft.

I personally like Sanchez. He's tough, fiery, smart, and has a good arm. The only knock on him is the amount of games played in college. I think with a year or two on the bench and plenty of snaps in preseasons and practice, that would turn him into a pretty damn good starter.

But you don't trade up to get a guy like that.

You trade up to get immediate starters, and that's only if you're a team that believes a rookie QB can be an immediate starter. Ours doesn't.

Bottom line here: The Panthers are a team that has more immediate needs and no cash to be active in free agency. Those factors combine to make trading up in the draft highly unlikely, especially for a position that the team braintrust never drafts high anyway.

This is why I see us unloading Peppers on draft day and then going and filling other positions after the draft.

People forget about the post draft cuts as well.

There is and will be some good talent to sign. We just have to wait.
