If it made sense to ask him to take a pay cut, if we felt he would start here, don't you think we would have done it? How do you know he wasn't asked?

The Jaguars did not ask David Garrard to take a pay cut, nor did they try to trade their former starting quarterback.

Instead this afternoon, after Garrard and the rest of the Jaguars returned from the team's kickoff luncheon, Garrard was just informed the Jaguars were releasing him

i'm just saying when he was cut the browns picked him up.

Delhomme was needy, Garrard is not in a hurry to sign.

His agent told the Florida Times-Union on Monday that Garrard was not looking to be a “temporary fix” somewhere, and that he had heard from a number of teams. His agent told the Sacramento Bee he’s considering three teams, with a new one added to the mix after the weekend.

the fact that they didn't try to trade him SCREAMS money move....they didn't want to take back something equal in cap to garrard and the pick you would get wouldn't be fair value for a decent starter....

Be honest, even if the Jaguars wanted to trade Garrard, who would pick him up for 9 mil? They wouldn't have had any bidders.

You do realize the team that picked him up could have easily restructured his contract much like Ocho did with the Bengals...I mean you did say he was willing to take a pay cut....

A guy like Garrard has no trade value because he is old and was signed for a ton of money. Any team wanting him likely knows that and therefore it makes more sense to wait it out and then he will be a free agent. Nobody makes a trade like that.
