Interesting Quote from DeAngelo Williams

Cyberjag is about as good at creating a good counterpoint as fox is at calling an offense

What counterpoint? I think you're angry, and I kind of find it silly, but those are opinions. This isn't a debate here, and if you don't like my opinions that's great. Maybe you're a really happy guy with rainbows shooting out your ass and all that, and I'm totally wrong about how you feel about the old staff. If so, that's great too.

I respect Cyberjag's opinions but I was so over Fox two years ago and totally thrown for a loop why he was brought back as a lame duck last year. His departure was inevitable but late.

But I'm not on the Rivera bandwagon and think it is amusing how media "spin" reflects upon a new coach. I expect Rivera to take more chances because he has less to lose and that is the mandate. Does that make him a better coach than Fox? Moot point. He is our coach and I fully support him for 2011. But I'm a Panther fan, not a Fox or Rivera fan.... there is a bottom line.

Frankly, I'm more worried right now about Chud being wildly successful and moving on to a HC job in a year or two.

I've read that Richardson didn't want to be on the hook for two coaching staffs if there was a lockout, so he kept Fox on through the end of his contract. They did the same thing to Marv Lewis in Cincy, but the difference is they actually gave him a new contract. I don't know why Fox chose to work out his lame-duck year, but it wouldn't surprise me if he said that part of his motivation was to keep his staff employed. All in all, it was a crappy situation and probably really contributed to the crappy record.

I like what I've seen from Rivera so far, and I like what I've seen from Chud. Looks to be a fun season, even if we don't win a lot. :)

somebody posted that they didn't understand why people don't like fox and i showed them the other side of the coin. now in response to it you're bringing up life and happiness like it's somehow relevant to a football-related discussion about what people think about a former coach and, here's where it gets really interesting, I find that kind of silly.

the seifert thing i brought up because for years up until recently people kept bringing up the seifert years and how awful they were and how much of a worthless piece of poo seifert was, and the fact that nobody really defended him. Even today somebody uses him as the occasional punchline, but it doesn't turn into a three page back and forth volley of banter. There were people in like 07 ripping seifert who had been fired for years and you probably weren't putting a positive spin on his tenure and accusing people of harboring resentment because while you have a lot of care for fox, you don't hold georgy up to that regard. And here you are in another fox thread trying to prop him up yet again.

believe it or not a good number of people are not awestruck by fox's early success to the point of it overshadowing the rest of his body of work, which has multiple limiting flaws, and chose to acknowledge them rather than put on the rose colored sunglasses, not because they harbor resentment but because they don't have that attachment to him that you do. And it seems to me the fox fans have a much harder time when people criticize him than the critics do when someone showers him with praise.

Nope, I'm not a Trgo hater. He did good things here and even though he fell hard (just like Fox) I can't knock the guy.

trgo to me just looked overwhelmed and frazzled at times. he's better off with the job he has now. it's like the same thing people say where some guys are much better coordinators than head coaches, and some guys are just better position coaches than coordinators. trgovac is one of those guys

Are you completely unaware that his defenses were consistently ranked in the top half if not top third of the league? If not better than that? Is that what overwhelmed means? How can anyone take you seriously?

We have a new coaching staff....it's seriously time to move on dude

hey csx what if i link an article that corroborates what i said about trgovac

"My wife told me, 'You haven't been a very good father the last year. Let's just take a step back and get a fresh start,' " Trgovac said. "It was just because I've been such a hard worker . . . not that I'm not going to work hard.

"These past couple years have been very hard on me. I spent a couple nights a week at the office. You throw your whole life into these jobs."
