Steve Smith in HOF?

Since there are only 20 WR's in the modern era history of pro football in the Hall of Fame, and:

1) S. Smith isn't in the top 31 in receiving yards, I'd say it's a loooong shot.

.... and 2) since only 1 (one) of the top 10 all time leaders in receptions is in the HOF, I'd say it HIGHLY unlikely.

I didn't mean would he get in he retired today. I'm wondering at the rate that he's going. Granted he won't have the height advantage to fall back on when his athleticism dwindles with age but at 29 I would estimate he's got at least 3 more years as a premier receiver in the league. If he can stay healthy and the offense around him is solid he'll end up 11,000 to 13,000 yard range.

No way !!

Fox is a conservative play caller and a run first coach.

Your missing the point

We were 32nd in pass attempts this season yet Smith had over 1400 yards and the highest YPC of his entire career. Fox is not/has never been afraid to use the deep ball.

I would agree with the sentiment that, overall, he is a conservative coach and play caller. Smith would probably be racking up 1700 yard 18 TD seasons as a Patriot, but that's neither here nor there and I'm glad we have him on this team. His extremely physical style and desire to get out there and hit somebody even if he isn't carrying the ball goes hand in hand with our run first mentality, I think.

I dont know how else to say this...let me make this a plain as possible.

John Fox is a conservative coach....meaning field position/ball control/run first coach.

IF WE WERE NOT 32nd IN PASS ATTEMPTS STEVE SMITH WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE MORE CATCHES,YRDS AND TD'S.:boxing_smiley:
