Otah suffered a concussion

My money is on Otah not playing. I just hope that Chud can come up with some "max protect schemes" in time. One thing that makes me feel better is Cam's mobility. It's a no brainer that McCarthy will be bringing the house against Cam.

I actually think he plays.

Otah basically had no reps to get into NFL shape and went out and played week 1.....OL is probably the toughest position on the body. Dude probably just feels like crap. I think he surprises this year with his effort to get on the field.

jesus christ undrafted rookie byron bell filling in for a top talent OT

it's not otah's fault, but this offseason we're going to have to find some reliability at RT be it a starting caliber draft pick or veteran depth with starting experience

at the very least

wisely worded.

when the discussion of otah comes up there is usually the mention of looking to replace him and that is usually followed by someone saying we are giving up too early on him or that we are selling him short and don't realize how talented he is. that isn't the case. he's a solid RT and could be one of the best in the league...if he was more reliable. he just isn't that. we need someone we can rely on to play every week because this spending half of his career on IR is a bit ridiculous. i don't care how talented you are. if you can't play the game, you're doing this team no good.

if we plan on keeping him around we at least need to find some starting caliber RT to back him up. but then if he is starting caliber, do we actually need otah around?

if he can't stay in the game this year, we really need to move on.

Cut? Why not Thomas Davis. Didn't he miss more time than Otah? Beason is going to miss 15 games this year. What if he comes back and gets a concussion? Cut him too?

I'm not in the camp of cutting him, but I am frustrated with his inconsistency of staying on the field. You're comparison is not a good one my friend.... Thomas Davis and Jon Beason have been on the field at a higher clip than Otah, and we did not trade up a future pick to move up and select them. In a possible 49 games that Otah has been eligible for since drafted, he has missed 23 of those games (including the entire 2010 season). That's almost 50% of his games he has been watching from the sideline due to injury. I am cool with letting this year pan out, since the OTA's and off season was shortened, but if there is a RT gem sitting there in the 3rd or 4th round of the 2012 draft, I would pull the trigger just to be safe.
