Urlacher excused from Bears to attend to family emergency

Status for Sunday's game uncertain. That would have a huge impact on the game Sunday in New Orleans. Best wishes to him and his family and hopefully he'll be available on Sunday.

Damn. Poor guy. I hate it for him.

But it happened early in the week. They might be able to get her buried by Friday, and he could be back with the team by Sunday. Trust me... I've been through enough of them... it usually only takes a few days to get a funeral done unless there is something criminal involved or the family has other factors (like rituals and what not).

Sounds cold, but he's a pro... and sometimes pros use something awful like this to motivate themselves. Hell, he could play Sunday and break sack and tackle records as a tribute to his mom.

I was sad to hear about this on the sports Wednesday. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. I can relate--I just lost my father three and a half months ago. Painful.
