Predicting a loss vs. GB

predicting how much your team is gonna lose by is fuging pathetic. stupid thread

Gipetto, I agree man. Some "fans" are sad and pathetic. Too scared to get their hopes up for fear of disappointment. If we lose, we lose, but until then I have faith that we're not only going to win, but win in a big way against the Pack. After the game, Aaron will give his belt to Cam, and he will proceed to eat it.

If you're not going to root for your team to win, regardless of the situation, then go find another team. I hear the Patriots are doing well...

I think you guys are confusing rooting with realistic expectations.

I am happy to throw $500 down on the packers for both of you and would be happy to lose it. Let me know and I'll set it up with Zod as the escrow.

This little bit on the NFC South Blog gives me some hope:

Newton completed nine of 13 attempts for a league-high 279 yards and 2 touchdowns on passes thrown 15 yards or more downfield Sunday. The nine completions were the second-most in the NFL in Week 1 (Drew Brees, 10) and the Packers have allowed the third-most completions 15 yards or more downfield since 2008.

it's unlikely that we will win, but it's entirely possible.

not seeing a point to this thread, btw...people doubt that we are going to pull it off. there isn't a lot of confidence in the team, esp. this week. we got it. congrats on being a "realistic" fan.

We had a chance to beat the Saints in their house w/ Jimmy Clausen last year.

We have a chance to beat the Packers this week. Confidence IMO is HUGE in sports. I think Cam's week 1 performance.....just gave this team a big shot in the arm.

HA! This ain't a test! This is a final exam!

seriously? it's week 2 out of 16. nothing more than that.

its the toughest team we will probably face this year, but it isn't the most important game and it isn't the one on which the season will be decided.

it's a test and a learning experience. it's one game. nothing more than that.

Are you listening to yourself?

1. Carolina is NOT Baltimore and the Ravens have a really good team unlike the Panthers.

2. Rodgers was out for the Detroit game and the Packers had 4 starters on offense alone out for the Washington game. If Matt Flynn didn't screw up 2 drives that ended less than 5 yards away from the end zone they still would have won that game.

3. History says Super Bowl teams don't make the playoffs the following year?Wrong. LOSING super bowl teams (AKA Steelers this year) don't make the playoffs the following year.

4. The Packers put up only 9 to the Jets. Without Jermichael Finley. Without Ryan Grant. Without James Starks. Without Morgan Burnett. Without Cullen Jenkins. (Granted he's gone now). Oh ya. The defense still let up 0 points to that team. Didn't that same team make it to the AFC championship game?

5. Didn't the Panthers just lose their best defensive player for the season?

6. Didn't the Panthers just lose to a team that didn't make the playoffs last year?

7. Didn't the Panthers lose to a quarterback that was playing his first game in Arizona?

8. Didn't the Packers just beat the Saints, when the Saints offense and defense are better than the Panthers?

9. Didn't the Panthers just lose a game when their quarterback had a record breaking night?

Yes. You can hope but the truth sometimes hurts.

You can make all the excuses you want for why Green Bay lost 6 games last year and I also noted injuries, but the point remains that teams have good weeks and bad. Teams lose to teams they are not supposed to lose to and sometimes beat teams they are not supposed to beat. I didn't bring up last year to get in a back and forth about why they lost simply that they did. And they will lose games this year. My point is that I hope one of them is to us this year.

Much of your logic is a non sequitor in the NFL. For example what happened in Arizona on the road has no bearing to what will happen to us this week playing at home. Saying that beating the Saints who are supposedly better than us serves as a marker on what Green Bay will do to us is totally ignoring that each week stands on its own. Pittsburgh got crushed by Baltimore last Sunday. Do you think that has any bearing on what will happen with Pittsburgh this week?? It doesn't.

The NFL is full of individual matchups that change from week to week. They have no bearing from one week to the next.

For example losing Beason while a blow won't be the killer problem people think. After all Connor played all preseason not Beason and might be an upgrade given Beason has achilles issues and no practice with the 1s.

Arizona is not the same team as last year when they suffered by not having a quarterback. Arizona with Kolb at home are a very different team then the one that routinely goes out and sucks on the road.

Kolb is actually a 4th year quarterback so playing his first game or not with Arizona, he is not new to the NFL or to their system

Again what the Packers did to the Saints has no bearing on this week, none, just like the Panthers Arizona has no bearing either.

As for Newton he did have a great night but it wasn't his issue we lost. Blame that on some coverage breakdowns and a special teams gaffe which hopefully gets fixed this week. You seem to forget we were 1 1/2 yards from tying it up and possibly winning on a 2 point conversion. Plus we lead for 2 quarters so honestly that is a game we should have won.

Maybe we lose, maybe we win, but surely your logic proves nothing nor does it show what will happen this week. That is why they play the game.
