Stallworth kills pedestrian

Unfortunately for Stallworth, even if everything he is saying is true, it's a definite possibilty for him to be convicted of manslaughter regardless of whether the pedestrian was jaywalking or not. Someone can still be legally drunk the next morning if one drinks heavy enough the night before.

(...and I don't understand how someone has enough time to flash their lights and honk their horn BUT not hit the brakes)

that's the part I don't get either, it's got me confused as well. How do you not at least try and stop??????

If this is true then it dont matter if pedestrian cross legal or illegally. If Stallworth saw him and could stop but didnt then it his fault... Stallworth is done. Forgot what it called but its a federal law.

Not neccesarily, If he was going fast enough then seeing him in the distance proably wouldn't have matterd because he would've got there five seconds after he saw the guy. I seriously doubt he had alot of time to react.

And we have to account how high the sppeed limit was. There could've been cars right behind him going 50, so stopping would've just hurt him and the drivers behind him.

He had enough time to flash his lights and hunk the horn, more than likely he had enough time to react. My guess is he was drunk and slow to react on time.

...and considering he was supposedly intoxicated at the time, I had trouble believing he was able to flash the lights and sound the horn in the first place. If anything, I would had expected a delayed braking and subsequent loss of control of the Bentley.

Here's the other thing. If there was enough time to perform the two actions above, how come the victim not retreat to the median or finish crossing? Was the victim drunk as well or simply oblivious to the peril that was coming?

I'd like to think that it's better to take a hit yourself by hitting the brakes instead of someone that's exposed on the road. Then again, ever since I've been rear ended, I have a bad habit looking back too much for anyone coming too fast, especially while braking.

Sad, will be interesting when all the facts come out. I feel bad for the family though because they media will drag this out a long time because of who Stallworth is. I can't figure out why people here are making jokes about it, not to mention lame ones. What would you feel like if an officer came to your home and informed you your father was killed in an accident..

Heard an update on ESPN Radio this afternoon. No charges have been filed and the blood test is mandatory for a vehicular accident that has a fatality involved. The test can take from 3 days to 3 weeks to complete. In other words, he may be completely innocent of being under the influence...
