Can Steve Smith break 10,000 career yards this season?

If he can stay healthy for 3 or 4 more years, I can see Smith getting alot of the things that we think he has deserved over the years, maybe even a spot in the HOF if we can build a very competitive team quickly.

Man, hope you're right. If that day came I think Steve would lay down one damn memorable speech. But I'm getting waaaaaayy ahead of myself.

I hate how everybody acts like Steve smith is done. " he's too old". And "he's lost a step an hes washed up". I admit when smitty was in his prime he would left that defensive back for Arizona in dust during the first cam td throw. But I mean the guy has had absolutely no one to get him the ball since jake blew up against the cardinals an lost his swagger. Smith in a fluent offense with a good qb would have been amazing the last couple of years. But due to the run, run, and 3rd and long draw gameplan. And also I think Jimmy was treats unfairly but he doesnt look like he's ready. And he sure couldn't get the ball to smith. Like I said smitty may have lost a step or he might not be around for 5 more years. But he's still the same playmaker who can change the game when given the ball or used properly. Along with having a qb that isn't scared to death and a offensive coordinator that knows how to do more than eat cheetos should help smith greatly. Although I don't think fox was the problem but rather Jeff davidson and his mediocre playcalls. Fox is a good coach but he lacked the coordinators and judgement it took for a young rebuilding team that we are. I think smitty will go above everyones expectations and have a great year catching 83 balls and having 1300 yards and 7 tds. I know I got a little off topic but I wanted to rant. But I believe we still have the same old hardcore little guy Steve smith

His first game start reminds me of 2007 when he and jake got off to a fast start. If Jake didn't get injured, SMith would have had a terrific year. With more weapons this year, I think Smitty is going to top 1000 yards. The only caveat is how teams defend Smith after what happened in Arizona. I can't believe that teams won't double him from here on out while Arizona put Peterson on an island with him on Sunday. Still Newton is the kind of quarterback who will buy time and wait for Smitty to clear late which is the secret to getting him the ball.
