What are other boards saying about Cam ???

Jaguars fans are widely impressed with Newtons performance. Usually, even last season, when we saw other rookie QBs play we downplayed them. This year with Newton there are a few people on the Jaguars forum downplaying his performance saying it is the Cardinals defense, but most people are level headed and stating, this is an NFL defense either way, and he made big plays against NFL players. End of story. We are hoping Gabbert can develop on the bench for the first half of the season but seeing Newton out there killing it with little to no practice and OTA, we have hope that Gabbert will play sooner rather than later.

i was curious enough to google...

"Peterson was good on special teams but terrible as a cornerback.

Newton was only great because he was lighting up Peterson over and over."

"You know what does bug me though is that it seemed abundantly clear to me that several of Cam's throws including the first TD were clearly blown coverage by us but he gets touted as the ultimate QB in the world"

"He has a lot of poise and slides in the pocket very well. His arm is very strong and he threw off his back foot many tiimes.

overall he had more time to throw the ball then Kevin. But this kid has a bright future."

"Most of the time Cam was throwing to wide open receivers and with little pressure. When he had good pressure he showed his weekness. He's gonna have to deal with much better DB's all season, so before the ESPN crowns him KING CAM lets see what he does against serious pressure and covered receivers."

What game was this person watching...And I'm so tired of the usual ficticious foot issues and mechanics when there is nothing bad to say. Eli was a interception machine yesterday and no one is bitching about his footworks or inaccuracies. Sam Bradford must have had like two interceptions and a fumble and not one is demanding that he don't make those mistakes again.

The easiness in the way folks just simply label Cam is so telling.

Jesus those Cards fans are stupid...

Go look at their thread before the game and they had a fantastic D with a fantastic new DC. Now Cam is not really good because they got a bad D.

Wow...so they are bring down the talent of their team just so they won't have to admit how good Cam was...ding...ding...ding...Give those fans the "swagger hating" prize...

Huh :conf: What games was this guy watching :conf: Cam was under pressure all day. I dont have the stats in front of me but they put them up on the TV towards the end of the game to illustrate how much pressure. Between, the "hurries" , "pressures", "hits", and actually "Sacks" there was a ton.

Regarding the WR's being wide open.... again Huh :conf: There were plenty of throws into tight to good coverage. I will give the guy that first Smitty TD as a blown coverage but thats about it.

Now if this is a Cardinals fan, then he better be worried about Kolb cause if not for blown coverages and wide open WR's they would have been shutout besides the punt return.

Whoever said he wasn't going through his reads wasn't watching the game. That's the biggest thing I was watching for in the game, and he was routinely going through at least 3 reads. Some plays he locked on, but I think those were mostly the design of the play, they were slower developing plays, so he watched the main target until the designated point that he was supposed to throw the ball. Of course, Peyton or Brady would have looked the DBs off that main target. But I'm ok with Cam not quite being there yet. The thing that impressed me MOST about his performance in that game wasn't his accuracy, wasn't his evading the pass rush, wasn't his running ability, wasn't his arm strength. It was him going through his progressions. I routinely saw his eyes go from #1, to #2, to #3, then to his choice of targets.

I have stopped reading the comments on articles about Cam. There are soooo many haters out there who are just gonna hate no matter what he does. If he won the superbowl this year they would find a way to say he wasn't that good. At some point you just gotta be like

I read on a community site, and i'll post some reactions!

First game of the season as a starter and Newton is already making an impacted and breaking records.

Newton Passed P MAnning in passing yards in one game as a Rookie

Dat boy goin in raw the whole time

yes indeed. Shutting alot of motherfu*kers up to. including myself

he is doing the damn thing. Respect to him.

i hope he busts in my face(no homo)

didnt expect him to do what hes done.. i like wear he actually went thru a progression and made a correct pass.. he still has a long way to go lets see if he can adjust to when teams adjust to him..

hes playing Arizona

He's looking good regardless of who he is playing. This is the NFL..

Cam got me eating sh*t right now. I'm not saying he's great but I didnt expect him to be making plays through the air. He's giving his team a chance to win regardless of who he is playing. He's playing without fear of failure but at the same time he's being as smart as he can with his throws. So for game 1 I eat sh*t for all the sh*t I said about him......but its only one game. Still did a better job than Captain Check down did today........(this is coming from a Falcons fan)

Alot of people had positive thing's to say about his performance.
