Chud's Offense

Watching the Patriots play, there seems to be a very similar look to the Panthers new offense, in comparison to the Patriots offense.

There's a lot of shotgun formation, inside hand-offs to the Running Backs, 12-15 sideline routes to the Wide Receivers, and vertical passes to the Tight Ends, especially near the sidelines and in the flats.

I think the Pats offense is what our offense is going to look like when it's all said and done, especially once the screen pass starts working effectively for Cam and the Running Backs.

tl;dr - Our offense will be the most exciting thing in Carolina for as long as Cam's there. CAN'T WAIT.

If Cam proves to be an Above average (not even elite) qb we will be THE most offensively balanced team in the league

Err....I don't know about all that now. Double Trouble have talent, but there are other teams with good or better running games right now. Even though our guys have done amazing in the past, and still have the potential to do it again, the fact is our running game has suffered pretty bad over the recent year, and until we can get it going again and up to that level, I wouldn't make such a statement.

they've been running from the shotgun for years. most of the elite QBs have been doing it a lot recently and last year there were quite a few of th best that were doing it on over 50% of passing downs. peyton did it in 76% of his. we're going to be seeing a lot more of it this year and going forward. it just makes sense that we will see newton using it. it's the best place for a QB to run a passing play. his taking snaps from the shotgun isn't because he's bad at taking them from under center. teams have just found that QBs do better taking it from there.

also, teams have been using the spread for years.

the year the pats set all those records? spread offense.

the year the cards went to the superbowl? spread offense.

new orleans saints high powered offense? a spread

mike vick looking like a real QB last year and eagles having one of the best offensive years they've had in a while? eagles abandoned the WCO and ran a spread.

packers beating the steelers in the superbowl last year? spread offense.

    • all of a sudden we have a crowded WR room but I'm pulling for him.  Good kid, went to Socastee High, near Myrtle Beach, then to Clemson and I think really surprised everyone that he got drafted and did well. Fun player to watch too.  Hope he makes it.  I expect Thielen to retire after this season, Hunter could be a good replacement.
    • Everyone wants to know what happened to Hunter Renfrow. He went from the Pro Bowl in 2021 to an afterthought in 2022 and 2023 to out of the league in 2024.  Renfrow ow is attempting a comeback with the Panthers. “It’s just trying to get back, trying to get healthy, trying to do something I love,” Renfrow told Darin Gantt of the team website when asked about a year out of the game. “I enjoyed other parts of life. We had our second daughter, so enjoying that and just wanting to make sure if I’m going to come back and give my time and attention to something that I was going to be all in on it.” Renfrow, 29, revealed that he has dealt with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, which left him with weight loss, fatigue and high fever. It’s a reason he did not play last season. Instead, Renfrow spent a year consulting with doctors and getting the condition under control. “It kicked my butt pretty good,” Renfrow said. “Last year, I fluctuated in weight. I went down to 150 pounds. I had like seven straight days of 103-degree fevers. It’s tough to play when you’re not feeling great.” He now weighs 187 with a goal of a playing weight of 185. “It’s a weird feeling. It makes you grateful for the times that you do feel good,” Renfrow said. “It makes you grateful for the opportunities that you’ve had, and when you feel like you’ve been blessed with some skill to go out there and perform, it makes you not want to waste the opportunity that you have. And that was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back and play.” In five seasons, Renfrow has 269 receptions for 2,884 yards and 17 touchdowns. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/hunter-renfrow-a-health-challenge-led-to-time-away-from-football
