I said 16 and 16. I believe I said 60% completions with roughly 205 ypg and somewhere around 7ypa.

All realistic numbers.

I'm not sheltering young Cam. I have high expectations for him and I will hold him to that standard. I will not baby him, make excuses for him, nor lower my expectations to a level which an UDFA can attain.

Even if it means taking some nasty lumps, you have to let the team and Newton grow together or you risk screwing him up.

I think our coaching staff is smarter than that.

I wasn't at any practices. I'm just going by what I see on TV and read in other media. But, barring an injury, if Cam was pulled from the starting lineup I believe it would have a negative effect on the team psyche.

Just by what I've observed and read, the players seem to want to follow the guy. Now that doesn't mean he's a team leader yet in the mold of Steve Smith, Jordan Gross, or Thomas Davis. But he's the QUARTERBACK. And he's who all the other guys on the team want playing at the most important position in the NFL.

I remember thinking how funny it was that you had a sudden change of heart because those numbers are actually better than most rookie QBs and you thought Cam still had a long way to go or at least wasn't as pro ready as some other guys and didn't have OTA or mini camp.

It was amazing how for one thread you were a believer and more delusional than most huggers about how successful he would be this season.

I still think we will see double digit TDs, low teens in interceptions, and @55% completion percentage.

Even with that, it's how he gets them that's important.

So, what'd you think? Did he get them the right way yesterday? Do you think he can be a long term starter in the NFL? Do you still think Jimmy Clausen is the best QB on the roster right now? If someone comes to the conclusion that Cam is a potentially great QB, does that make them a blind homer/nuthugger at this point?
