Rams release Torry Holt

I'm not jumping on the Torry Holt bandwagon either, but he is a HOF receiver. But all those who are going crazy going "Hell No", have forfeited the right to complain about our receiving corps no matter what happens, try to remember that. I'll go with what we got, but if I see the, "We wouldn've been great if only we'd had another receiver" threads, I'm gonna go off

No problem. I am content with our current WR roster.

Moose's downfield blocking > Holt's downfield catching.

It was crucial on a lot of steve smith's catches, Double Trouble runs, and if you remember, they ran a play in the saints game where he pretended to block and then caught a touchdown.

Besides, he'll be a better mentor for Jarrett.

You can likely expect the Titans to pursue him. Rotoworld has an item saying that they had attempted to trade for him before his release.

Chandler thinks it's unlikely he winds up here (link).

Gantt thinks if he's in, Moose is out (link)

i saw that gantt piece.

losing moose to pick up holt would be a bad idea. it would hurt our run game immensely. even though we could have better options as a receiver, moose is invaluable as a downfield run blocker.

Valid, but Holt is also the type of sure-handed route runner that teams must account for in the Red Zone. Having that added dimension could make the Panther offense very difficult to stop.

Glad that you mentioned Moose as a mentor, by the way. Pretty sure Steve Smith would give Moose a fair amount of credit for his being the player that he is. Hopefully, Moose can do a similar job teaching Dwayne Jarrett what it takes to be a pro. At this point, I'm not certain he knows.

No knock on Smith, but realistically while he's a lot of things, "Mentor" ain't one of 'em :sosp:

If Jarrett doesn't show something this season, he should probably be released. Let's face it. He hasn't really shown anything yet, and he isn't exactly making up for it on special teams. Absolute waste of a roster spot if he doesn't do something this season.

That's simply a given. He's in year three, he won't get another chance. But he won't need it, he'll get it done this year...

Umm, Cut moose, put Jarret in the two spot and have Holt in the three spot....ummmm or sign Holt and cut diggs. ummmm I can't think of a sign holt cut a player situation that I like. SO if that's the case, no thanks. I'll just take a rookie WR with some upside then. Wait I got it, cut Peppers and sign Holt, Robertson and another dline player. Let Johnson, brayton, lewis, Kemo, Robertson and taylor plus a Rook fill the rotation. lol

he did everything that he was asked last year and he showed that he deserves a roster spot more than hackett. the fact that he didn't do more this past year was more due to fox using '08 as a test to see which of the two deserves a shot. if he had been activated more he would have shown more.

i totally believe this.
