Beason situation dire.

TD's were torn ACL's, this is a torn achilles tendon. Apparently it's much worse. One of the worst injuries a player can get short of an outright career-ender.

That's based on what I've heard/read here, BTW. I have no clue personally how serious it actually is.

Exactly. A torn ACL you are walking out of the hospital and start rehab immediately!

I really wish posters would get educated and deal in the world of reality and with facts before posting. Beason is a great athlete, but many before him had the torn Achilles and never came back the same. NONE that I know of came back at the same level. It took takeo spikes about 5 years to come close to being what he used to be.

Ah, thanks for the correction. I didn't realize it's actually believed to be a torn achilles tendon. I saw him go down the exact same way and in the same situation as TD did against NO two years ago and kinda assumed it was the same thing.

This is bad. I do have to say that 36% factors into crappy players who are out of shape or old players that were on the decline anyway. I wish he would be coming back this year but I know it wont happen. I just hope he will still be the same player he has been.

Thomas Williams, Connor and Gaither will have to step it up. I would honestly like to see Thomas Williams get more playing time because I believe he can be a great player and honestly I think he can be better than Connor. This is a big loss on D but we will go on.

Jon Beason is a great player and I hated to see that happened for him, but we still have to have faith in our players and look at the situation optimistically that another opportunity will open for Dan Connor to play well.

I really hate seeing Beason get hurt out there on such a nonsense play, but there's nothing me or anyone else can do about it.

I wonder if there is any way he will be back this season? any way possible that he HASN'T torn it? I am no doctor and am ignorant when it comes down to medical information but I assume that Beason has a chance it isnt torn and could be back this season?

One other question, what was Beasons injury that kept him out of the preseason?

Rivera just said in his presser they'll be looking at DL and OL

Honestly, it makes sense. We already picked up depth earlier with our secondary. We only have 3 DT, 2 of which are rookies which aren't use to the length of a NFL season yet, and we need more competent depth at OL.

As much crap as people give our WR corps especially after yesterday, I think the coaching staff is happy with the core we have. We might see more playing times for others or in different roles but the players we have now is what we have till the season ends unless an injury happens.

I dont think we can get many starters in free agency after the first week of the season.

    • Hornets actually have good young talent, but they just can't play good team ball.   Lee doesn't look like a good hire at HC so far.
    • Apparently it did no good. Getting spanked by the Wizards…again!
    • I'd be looking at mid to late round QBs every single draft simply because the potential ROI is so high. Hell, even if I have an entrenched starter and backup that wouldn't change the equation. Hit on one and I'd trade my entrenched backup to a desperate team and now I have a quality backup in a rookie contract to protect cap space and a potential asset to trade down the road or hell even develop into a starter if my starter is aging or has a career detailing injury or maybe the young guy simply proves to be better at some point. Once you get the the 4th or 5th round you're basically throwing darts at the board hoping to hit on something at that point. Most of those guys will prove to not be long for the league anyway.  I'm not saying reach on a guy just because he's a QB but if I have similarly rated prospects on the board and we're talking about a FB, a blocking TE, and a  OG with limited upside, well that's a no brainer to me. Roll the dice on the QB.
