McDermott's Defense

Completely wrong on Doucet's TD. That was a HORRIBLE defensive call by McDermott. You do not sell out blitz (and show it from the break of the huddle) on 3rd and 7 from the Arizona 20. He completely gave up the middle of the field....and showed Kolb the play from the start. Any QB would have checked to that pass...there was no defense.

This is why McDermott was run out of Philly. He can be recklessly agressive at the wrong time.....which he was a few times today.

I'm telling you, I was SO waiting for those LBs to drop back into coverage when he snapped it... When they went through with the blitz, I may as well have sh*t a brick. I already knew what was coming next...

I disagree.

Gamble is losing it. His play was inconsistent, and he allowed some huge plays today.

If you're going to be a blitzing D, your corners need to be able to man cover anyone. I am starting to think Gamble doesn't have that in him.

Did you two guys watch the same game I did?

Thats an incredible statement. You do realize that Gamble was covering perhaps the best receiver in the game and did a very respectable job against him. Really only got burned once.

Yep....when they walked all three LB's to the LOS, I was screaming NOOOOOO at the TV. I knew exactly what the outcome was going to be.

Do you know for certain that was the call? We don't know if he really wanted to sellout to the blitz, or if someone was out of place. Thats the problem with message board assessments, we don't know what was called or what was suppose to happen, or who truly screwed up.

Defense gave up 2 boneheaded TDs. I can't believe he brought the Blitz after King.. Jeff motherfuging King, the slowest TE on the Zona team, beat them. and he brought it when they were spread out wide. Rivera says he checks the defensive playcalls, so this is on him too. I'm sure that play will be re-evaluated.

Either it was a bad call...or all three LB's thought they were to blitz.

Maybe it was a blown understanding by the LB's...definitely a possibility.

But, he did do this type of thing in Philly....which WAS the reason he was let go.

the defense had shown that formation quite a few times all game.. every time the LBers stepped back into coverage.

I'm assuming McDermott thought the OLine would fug up the protection and 2 Lbers would run through untouched..

of course that didn't happen, but he still had a safety to make the tackle.. my main gripe out that call was not putting a guy on Doucet when the offense came out in a 5 WR set..

lot of people have just gotten so stuck in the mode of hating Gamble they refuse to accept his good things.

The only long play he gave up was the long Fitzgerald pass and that was an INCREDIBLE route by Fitz.

Sure, the 3rd down pass he gave up was disappointing, but to let your frustration cloud your judgement on his performance is just silly.

I've been a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Gamble supporter.. however tonight, Gamble gave those "haters" a LOT of ammunition tonight. he did just as good as if Munnerlyn were on Fitz with safety help. I've tried to convince folks Gamble was a top 10 CB, however he did NOTHING close to that tonight..

just an unbiased view..

Whu?

Did anyone see Niamdi get torched and have to pull the ol P.I out?

Gamble's coverage of Fitz was really good and except for the long streak that Fitz released from in the 4th. So what about the out pattern, it was a great route..perfect pass.

Did anyone see Revis getting used by Dez Bryant? It hapens. The Nfl is set up to help Wrs.

Great Qbs throw picks too...great cbs give up catches too.

I went back and watched the Doucet TD. 3rd and 7, 5 wide (empty backfield). We were in the nickle 2 Lb's 5 DBs. 4 Dbs in man and Doucet was COMPLETELY uncovered. Whoever missed the tackle( and henceforth shall be refered to as the whiffer) was the odd man and I assume was responsible for Doucet in that scheme. The thing is they only needed 7, yet the whiffer was lined up almost 20 yards off. He was deeeep. Why blitz both LBs and have no one to cover the vacated space? Doucet had the first almost immediately after he caught the short pass. There is no way that could be construed as blown coverage, imo.
