Cam Newton is The Real Deal

I agree, most veterans can't even pull off what Cam did tonight. He had a hell of a game. But it is still one game. His career will be defined by what he does after this game, not by this game itself. Based on some reactions in here, you would think this game defines Cam when it is only the start. We will see what happens from here.

Ahhh, so now the negative folk are insisting that we cannot make any judgements on Cam's performance until he finishes his CAREER.

No judgements can be made in just one game! (Unless, of course, that game happens to be a BAD game... say, in preseason.)

Your goalposts... they be mighty mobile.

I didn't respond to Grit's comment, others did. I respond to nearly everything I disagree with, and I don't think we need to rag on Dalton to make Cam look better... Cam's performance speaks for itself IMO.

I merely found it curious that you chastise those who "ragged" on Dalton (of which you made a good point... "ragging" on Dalton has nothing to do with Newton), but you let Grits comments "ragging" on Cam pass WITHOUT comment.

*search function broken* :(

I may have just lumped you in with others the same way some of the Haters have done with me and other Huggers since I have been here.

I never thought Cam was the "sit for x years project". I didn't think he would be ready to start day one due his college system as well as the lockout, but I figured he would be ready sometime during the season probably around game 8. I was wrong and he proved he was ready tonight, I have no problem admitting that. And while I think he had a great game, I am more concerned with what he does after this game. People are entitled to act however they want, but simply because I'm not ready to crown him as the greatest QB ever after one game doesn't mean I hate him.

As far as I know, I didn't call out a specific poster, I just responded with my thoughts on how Dalton played. I have said probably three or four dozen times today how well I thought Cam played. I did not know I needed to now add "AND CAM LOOKED GREAT!" today to every post.

Grits hasn't said anything specific about Cam for me to comment on, and I've said a ton of positive things about Cam in this thread... so I'm not sure what exactly I'm supposed to say to him.

If he can't realize Cam looked good today there's not much that I can say to help him there.

and for good measure...

AND CAM LOOKED GREAT!

None of what you claim was in my post. Please learn to read. No player is defined by his first game. Having a good or bad first game does not tell how your career will play out but continue to talk out your ass.

Yeah, let's keep the, "we shouldn't be overjoyed" mantra going as if Cam is some johnny come lately...I still shake my head at those who are all hyped about Andrew Luck despite him still being in college and no one knowing what this year holds for him nevermind the NFL. But the kid who beat him in every college QB award, we should all be cautious of, no matter what he does.

I pointed out earlier how his "at least Dalton won his game" had a CLEARLY implied follow-up. One that doesn't need to even be written or said it is so clearly implied. Because there is no reason to say "at least Dalton won his game" without meaning, without doubt, "UNLIKE CAM".

So, one can use the English language in the weaseliest of ways like Grits did to give them deniability, but you know and I know and HE knows exactly what he meant.

So, yeah, if by "specific" you mean he didn't actually type/say the words, then you're right. And you're letting him off the hook.

mav has a bad habit of rushing to the aid of Cam-haters. It had me calling him a hater for awhile.

@mav - I know you aren't a hater, just saying it seemed that way with your defense of TuRD and anti-Cam posters.

There's nothing factually inaccurate about "Cam didn't win his game." Now, if Grits said "and it's his fault," I would disagree with him, but since he didn't say that, I didn't bother responding. Cam had a great game and the only thing missing from it was the win... which I hope he gets next week.

I do frequently defend people I like, but they aren't all "Cam-haters." I have actually said positive things about Teeray when I was poked with very spikey sticks!!! ;)

Also, I don't think that defending Andy Dalton should be the same as "aiding a Cam-hater." I don't think Dalton's game diminishes Cam at all.
