Luck would never be able to duplicate the success that Manning has had in Indy, even if they got him. I just don't think the Peyton Manning's of the NFL come around that often. Luck might be Flacco good, but will he run an entire offense by himself? Not sure he will be that good.

I think Luck could very well turn out better than Manning. He has the arm, footwork and smarts + he's a lot more mobile than Payton ever was.

San Francisco was able to move on past Joe Montana, but that was because they didn't have the cap and they Walsh. How did George Seifert turnout? How have the the 49ers really done after Montana & Walsh?

The biggest record Peyton wanted was Brett Farve's starts. When Farve came out of retirement, Peyton knew that record just wasn't obtainable.

Again, it's very hard to replace a franchise QB in the salary cap era!

However, it would not surprise me that if Peyton can't comeback this year, that the Polians have something up their sleves!

The Colts say vice chairman Bill Polian spent Saturday watching quarterback Andrew Luck lead Stanford to a win at Duke.

His presence led to speculation that the Colts are already looking at next year's NFL draft after losing Peyton Manning, who is out while he recovers from neck surgery. Indianapolis opened the season with veteran and was blown out by Houston, 34-7.

There may have been other reasons Polian was on the road Saturday. His son, Brian, is Stanford's assistant special teams coordinator and the family's home is in Charlotte, N.C.

The Colts have scouted top college quarterbacks before. They brought in Andrew Dalton and Colin Kaepernick for workouts this spring. Both were taken in the second round of the draft, before Manning had neck surgery in May.

Bill Polian isn't making the Colts' day-to-day personnel decisions. Chris Polian, the Colts' general manager, took over those duties during the offseason.

Half of the Polians still live in Charlotte...there's no Luck conspiracy but if Indy wants him, they'll probably be in good position to get him.

And Bill still lives most of the year at Lake Norman anyways so its not that far fetched of a thing to go visit his son 2 hours away
