So was Everette Brown. What's your point?

Mine is, Hurney clearly makes a lot of decisions, probably most of them, based on who he likes or feels close to. He has the same "loyalty" problem that Richardson does, which is why Delhomme got that ridiculous contract that he did after imploding in a playoff game, and why Hurney is handing out some of the biggest contracts this season, when he could have paid these guys significantly less and still outpaid what other teams were going to offer them, so he still would have kept them all.

He makes way too many big decisions based on heart and gut feeling, not enough based on research and good sense.

what makes you think it wasn't rivera's call to let go of these guys?

seems like most of your criticizing/whining is driven by emotions and not on actually knowing who is making the decisions or why they were actually made. not something that i would look for in an "oracle" or "know it all".

you are basing your assumptions on how things are being run form a very uneducated position and it's showing.

What's showing is your ignorance. What you said only matters if it was Rivera's decision to bring them here in the first place.

i congratulate the staff for bringing multiple guys in to see if they can help the team out and if they see that the new recruit isn't the one then cut him. you have to remember there was a short camp so they don't have time to dance around with guys, guys only have a short time to prove themselves or they finds themselves being dismissed.

i just wish fox had the balls to do the same thing. the staff looks proactive even though they are trying to put together the best product with make shift parts.

ignorance?

why wouldn't it have been rivera's call or at least why wouldn't he have had a hand in it? they needed help at RG. MJG became available and they moved in. they saw that hangman was available and they moved in on him as the better choice.

MJG was a sure bet as far as being able to acquire. hangman, not so much because he could go wherever he wanted and there were other teams interested. he wanted to come back here.

as has been said by level headed people plenty of times, there is a chance that there is something wrong with the guy, having been let go from not just one, but two teams so far this year. it was worth a shot to see if he could fit the need.

also it is very possible that they just don't want to give him, who will be a backup, guaranteed money so they will pick him back up on monday.

there's no reason to rage. there's no reason to go feeding some kind of "I HATE HURNEY!!!!!!" campaign, unless you just can't control your emotions and you just can't look at a very possible and most likely scenario other than "hurney just thinks with his gut and makes calls based on emotion".

Cut Bernadeau, not the guy who's already proven himself.

I believe MB does not have 4 years of experience so he's not guaranteed for the year after today like Gilles would have been.

I don't really like the move but I suspect that may have something to do with it.

Yeah, perhaps but I'd rather spend a little more and get a guy who's actually capable of doing his job.
he may not be able to do his job very well.

the dude wasn't good in pass blocking. there may have been other issues for both the eagles and then the bengals to move on from him. we may have found out why.

again, it could be that we bring him back on monday. MJG might not be that valuable a commodity that teams are going to be jumping at the bit to get him. even if that's the case, you have to wonder why.

it's a risky move, but only for us because we aren't working with all the information.

one thng that is a concern for me is that he lost 30 pounds in the offseason. thats a lot of weight to lose in a short amount of time. it might have come at the expense of some strength and power.

I'm working purely off the logic that, anything is an upgrade over Bernadeau at this point. I felt really good about the line until this happened. I feel far better now that Hangartner is here, but if he goes down Bernadeau is the first back up and that's a problem.

understood, but again we're going with incomplete knowledge. aside from some headscratcher decisions at CB and DT, they have been doing everything well. i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

i've got to admit, tho. i'm not loving the lack of depth and i'm also not loving mack being the main backup at OG. it makes me kind of nervous. i'm just glad we got a QB that can be mobile if things break down.

I would agree with you if we were not giving out HUGE contracts that are out of balance with the majority of the league & will come back to bite us. Signing & cutting players who are not good enough or fitting into the scheme makes sense.

It just seems incongruent to pay our guys SO much, then make moves like this ('penney wise & pound foolish' is the saying for this).

I have significant concerns about what these kinds of decisions have on the team as a whole though; remember we lost out on the Stanford QB. He was prepping to come out, his coach left, he would be #1 in possibly the last year to make serious cash (which didn't end up that way, but nobody really knew that). The national media made a laughing stock out of us. A big reason is b/c Richardson was 'prepping' for the lockout & new CBA by 'cutting dead weight'. These kinds of decisions DO come back to hunt teams...the consequence is just not always clear & direct.
