This was purely a procedural move by the Panthers. MGG was brought in before Hangartner was available. When Piggy was cut by the Bills, the Panthers made a move for him making MGG not as necessary as he was when we signed him. With MGG's lack of time with this OL and Hangartner's familiarity with the other guys, it's very possible that Max wasn't going to be active for the game anyway. So as not to have to guarantee the money that they were paying MGG they waived him, at least, for the weekend. Now it's possible that MGG will find another gig elsewhere but it's also possible that they told him up front what they were going to do and that he will be brought back next week. Now he could get pissed off and say that he won't come back, but no matter where he goes his contract won't be guarateed.

Either way it's a good move to drop a player that probably won't see the field this week anyway in order to give flexability down the road.

This is just a guess, BTW. They could very well have decided that they didn't need him at all and won't bring him back.

Either way, I'm not going to get bent out of shape over a back up guard that has only been on the roster for a week.
