Why do some of these experts think Cam can't develop accuracy....

to me its more about consistent accuracy than accuracy. How can anyone deny he didnt have moments in the preseason where he showed accuracy. Moreover these moments came when he stepped into throws and didnt revert to poor mechanics like throwing off his back foot. I mean if he can show flashes of being accurate, why can that turn into consistency w/ time?

I think he'll be fine. I think it really boils down to his footwork and once he learns to consistently throw from a solid base we'll see an improvement.

I don't think he'll ever be a real accurate passer, ala Brees, Rodgers, Manning, but with everything else he's able to do he just needs to be adequate to be highly effective. Hopefully he can reach and stay above the 60% mark.

I’ve heard some “experts” say you can’t really develop accuracy. You either have it or you don’t…I think Meril Hodge said that but I don’t trust him anyway.

Thats bullpoo to me. I mean how is accuracy something you just have, its not like being clutch where there is a large mental aspect to it. It boils down to throwing the football, its all mechanical and he has shown accuracy, he just doesnt show it all the time.

100% agree w/ this. Look at Vick, im pretty sure he has never broken the 60% barrier, but with everything he can do, he doesnt have to be Peyton, Brady, Rodgers accurate. Same w/ Cam.

Merril hoge is a fuggin hater, through & through. He's been wrong on so many rookie QBs before, he knocks almost every single one & says they won't be any good.

I would have loved to hear his 'expert opinion' during Troy Aikmen's first starting year, or Peyton Manning's. He would have killed them too.

Oh, I forgot, he was having a very mediocre career at the time doing absolutely nothing.

Anyways, Cam will never Brees level accurate, but he can definitely improve. All you have to do is look towards the rookies that had low 40% accuracy in their first preseason, then how they progressed throughout the year.

That's pretty stupid, you can absolutely develop and work on your accuracy...

As a high school quarterback yes, as a NFL quarterback no. After college you either have it or you don't, this is like speed, it isn't something you can really work on.

When you say develop accuracy I believe it is more of the offensive scheme molding to what you're good at, not you becoming more accurate. Did you see Rodgers throw those darts last night? Newton will never be able to do that but if we give him the right scheme it will seem as if his accuracy has improved.

Cam is not a player that has had major struggles with accuracy. After all, he ended his career at Auburn with 67% completed, unlike a guy like Locker who has consistently struggled along in the 50's.

His problem is inconsistency in his delivery, and that is very coachable, and will get better with more reps.

I agree to an extent that accuracy in it's purest form may not be coachable, but that is not Cam's problem at all. When he is comfortable in the pocket, he typically throws very well. And things like throwing to the wrong spot on the field have nothing to do with accuracy; that happens when he mis-reads the play.

I bet he ends the year closer to 60% than 50%.

Drew Brees work on his accuracy from SD to NO. Hell Brett Farve never was accurate but he still has just as many SB as Payton Manning.

TBH understanding the game is much more of a struggle for QBs and how they call the protections or lack there of. Brees and Rogers are both monsters at this and there teams live and die by it.
