Godfrey Extended

This is stupid. Godfrey is a B- safety. Last time I checked, a B- means you're a good player, but FIVE years? Color me perplexed.

Remember, these are the same people that signed Gamble to a big money 6-year extension in 2008.

Don't agree with the extension. Good hitter, but think he lacks in coverage. Which is the main job of a DB. Others may like it, but I'll just shake my head and just accept it and hope he finally shows improvement this season. To me, this is the equilivant of extending Delhomme after the Arizona game.

If we lose Godfrey ...its yet another position we may never fill with the right guy.

Im not saying Godfrey is the right guy but...it cant be too crazy of a contract can it?

I can't remember if it was an article, or it may have been the lengthy interview with Morgan Fogarty? Anyway, it was within the last 3 or 4 months and JR was naming off guys that he considered leaders/great players and he mentioned guys like Beason, Gross, DeAngelo, etc., and I was almost blown away when he mentioned Charles Godfrey.

And this was a few months back... So I was really surprised by it. I knew he was liked by the previous staff, by before that interview, I had no idea that JR felt that way about him - not only as a player, but a leader. Pretty amazing because it feels like he doesn't do many interviews...

So, considering that, I'm not surprised by the extension and I approve of it, happy to have it done!

Considering Ron Rivera hasn't been afraid to scrap the guys that haven't been able to play and that in general hes a really good defensive coach, I trust his judgement.

And considering that his peers (you know the guys that actually play pro football) respected him enough to vote him captain, lets me know that he more than deserves his spot on this team. I believe I respect their judgement as well.

Awesome move, very glad. I really think we'll see him grow up under Rivera. I really like our secondary, hopefully they play this well.

I believe Hurney has learned his lesson about not re-signing our players before their contract is over, the CJ deal has a lot to do with this plus more cap space.
