Re: Preseason Defense

I think that is what he is supposed to say. I can't believe that letting teams run up and down the field on us is what they "wanted to do"

BTW did anyone see that no name rookie QB throw all over the field on us, what was his name again and who did he play for? I forget...anyway I'm also hoping that wasn't what they "wanted to do"

It is a division rival though and those usually turn out to be good games so we'll see.

From what I saw in the game last night, neither NO or GB are bullet proof. The Saints still live or die by how Brees plays, and GB's achilles heel looks to be their secondary (NOT Clay Matthews though - that guy's a beast). GB definitely worries me more than NO does at this point, but if we go in feeling our oats, with a great hometown crowd, and if the love of Jesus is smiling on us that day, we could pull off the upset....Just my opinion, of course.

Seriously? With no pressure on Brees how the hell will the Panthers corners cover the Saints WRs? Quit being homers and face reality.

Actually blitzing Brees on every play is actually counterproductive. Like last night on most of the blitzes he simply throws a quick pass in the area just vacated by the blitzer. Fox always had good success against new Orleans by applying some pressure and blitzing on occasion but focusing on making Brees throw short and then tackling the receiver to avoid YAC. Green Bay actually blitzed too often and were fundamentally unsound tackling the receiver and defending the short pass. Yeah Brees had some long strikes but the majority of his passes are short and timing routes which make it hard to blitz.

The concern I have when we play New Orleans is that we will be too aggressive and sell out only to get burned rather easily. I think getting pressure is important but stopping the run game and playing tight on receivers particularly in the 5 to 10 yard range is how you beat New Orleans.

As for Rodgers and Green Bay, you have to play well in the secondary and eliminate big plays. Hard to beat them when their offense and defense is clicking. If you sell out on the blitz, you better get there or Rodgers will burn you.

If what they wanted to do was evaluate what the different players did well/poorly, then yeah, they probably did what they wanted to do.

Hell no, we need to come out and punch those cheese clogged bastards in the mouth. They are feeling really good about themselves right now, need to be taken down a few pegs.

LMBO...this post reads like the little kid standing up to the bully..Yep, the bully is holding the kid's head while the kid flairs away at him telling him...I can beat u...I can beat u...What a visual:D

The Saints just kept pace with the world champions for a 40+ point plus game and you are saying maybe we have a chance, but at what exactly? Scoring some points or winning the game?

Both those defenses looked like poo. The Packers had more stops but in the bigger picture they were suckers for the big play, the Saints didn't need to complete three 5 yard passes, instead they took 20 yards at a time.

You have your homer goggles on and I wouldn't bet money on a win vs. them. Until we can show we can score 40+ points, even on a 'suspect' defense. These teams are offensive powerhouses and all defenses will look 'suspect' vs. them. They key is the ability to score points, lots and lots of points. Rivera's is building the team for it but I doubt it is ready just yet. We may play them twice a year but this will be Rivera's first time facing them with the Panthers, there is little familiarity.

Any given Sunday. Nobody saw the Seahawks beating them in the playoffs either.
