Panthers Scouting Pat White hard

You're right he's not. The ones who sell QBs short and put limitations on what their potential is simply because they are black are.

Which is nobody on this thread, that I could see. Not every white person is racist, in fact, I'd wager to say the majority aren't. I'm not. I would like to take Pat White, but we have more pressing needs. If he is there in the 4th or 5th, after we have addressed our needs, then I'm all for it.

You can say the sentiment is out there but that is in your mind and opinion but isn't stated specifically. .

It was in Willie Thrower's mind

It was in Marlon Briscoe's mind

It was in James Harris mind

It was in Warren Moon's mind

It's in Donovan McNabb's mind

Panthers55 YOU, are part of the problem dude. Rather than acknowledge the stigmas that black QBs face, you act like they dont exist. You are the one who stated "why take a risk on a maybe when they are probables to be had". What QBs in the draft are probables? Was Tim Couch a probable? What about JP Losman? There is no such thing as a "probable" in the draft, its all a crapshoot. YOU, Panthers55, are in here calling this man a "receiver" and wont even acknowledge him as a damn quarterback. Despite the fact he has done everything his team has asked of him at that position and he's won every big game he needed to at that position. The guy performs well at the combine throwing the ball better than his peers, and its "oh but there are no linemen in his face". LMAO. What do you want Pat to do? Demand they put real live players out there while he's doing this throws? Pat White is a QUARTERBACK, and deserves the opportunity to prove that.

For the record, I would never ever ever want you to coach my kid if he chose to play QB. You would have my son thinking he'd be better off playing punt returner or wide receiver. And the funny thing is, if your kid said he wanted to play QB and be great it at it. You're not gonna talk him out of it. You're not gonna tell him maybe he should run some routes. You're not gonna automatically assume he cant throw. You're not gonna downplay or totally overlook his leadership qualities. You're gonna tell him to be great and that he can do anything. Well guess what, black parents feel the EXACT same way.

Again you brought up black. I saw him play in person 2 times this year and on TV 3 more. Other than North Carolina I wasn't impressed. I don't think he has the skills. I could be wrong which is why I am on here debating you instead of scouting for a team. I also didn't calll him a receiver but NFL pro scouts did want him to run routes. I guess they are all wrong too, even the black ones.

And again you didn't answer my post. You used the race card and no one else has. Go back to the tinderbox. Your paranoid racist agenda gets old. This is a football forum.

I have his postseason performances, especially the Senior Bowl, more in mind when I say this.

Reasonable, but does your read on this vary based on whether or not we're able to regain a first round pick?

Yes, I think if we get a first round pick or even a second then we can spend the third on White. But I do think we need to pick up a DT,CB first.

He's no The Golden Calf of Bristol.

And Tim will be asked to run routes in workouts and be considered for other positions.

Matt Jones was a great QB at Arkansas but was never considered as a QB in the NFL.

drop the white-black bullsh*t king taharqua...it's just stupid

He's going to take that as racist. Watch.

Now this is probably a silly notation. What if a team likes him at QB, but just wants to see if he could play Wr as a sort of Insurance plan. That kid White is going to be one heck of a QB I think, but in case he doesn't work out can He play WR.

It's not just about Color, the Jags moved Jones to wr. He was a White QB. It's about Athletic QB's, not if they are black or white.

McNabb deals with what he does because he plays in Philly, they hate everyone there. Especially drunk santa's and qb's who had Accuracy problems in their early years.

Damned NFL racists.

Former West Virginia QB Pat White is proving to be one of the most intruiging prospects in the draft. Is he projected as a quarterback, or receiver? What about both? Based on those evaluations, how long will he last in the draft?

The intrigue continues.

White worked out with the New England Patriots on Wednesday, spending the majority of the workout on wide receiver drills, and worked out with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, according to league sources.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
