Panthers Scouting Pat White hard

Damn, all they did was scout a potential late round QB prospect, and it got 27 pages. You gotta love the off season.

Personally, I'd be a lot more worried if they didn't look at guys like Pat White.

Yes, gotta love the off season. Especially on the huddle. Off season's FTW.

Part of the reason I am not a fan of not having the rep system in place (even though I personally negged someone like once ever). People could insult others privately with comments if they wished to and leave a lot of that ish off the public forums and keep it from polluting threads more. I could be wrong but perhaps having no way to express themselves other than insults on threads has made things worse. Let's face it, we should all go to PMs if we want to make something personal but that just isn't gonna happen.

Pat White did great passing to wide receivers at the combine when no one was in his face pressuring him. Problem is that isn't real life. How did he do during the season?

(Quarterbacks with more than 100 attempts)

He was 86th in passing yards

He was 16th in completion percentage (quarterbacks with more than 100 attempts)

He was 75th in Yards per attempt.

He was 32nd in TDs

It is a good thing he is athletic and can run the ball because based on college stats he isn't even a top 20 quarterback.

Those are valid, and great points.. but on the basis of it further proves my point that asking him to be a passer is asking too much... He's inexperienced, looks for the option first, and is average when under pressure IN the pocket...

Same thing could have been said about Steve young when he came out and went to the bucs. He ran a lot in his early years and had horrible stats, but he figured it out and got it together and is one of the best QB's of all time. (I'm in no way comparing the two players) Just to say in the draft you never know.

Another year under Rodriguez and he'd likely have been even further down.

He progressed nicely as a passer in one year under Bill Stewart. Given some pro coaching, he might develop into a good pro QB in a year or two.

Of course you can find one or two guys who end up making it big. But why take a chance on a maybe when there are other guys out there who are probables.

Pat White wants to be a quarterback although NFl scouts and Execs want him to be a receiver.

Fixed it for you.

And he would be a good choice if he falls to the second day. I am not sure he would qualify as a second rounder as many folks have touted him. He is a project with a chance to make it. Nothing more.

As for him being better under Stewart versus Rodriguez, the numbers don't suggest much difference. He threw more TDs and Ints but otherwise the numbers were comparable.

No, Roethlisberger is not any more athletic than 50% of the rest of the starting QBs of the league... He simply may have better scrambling vision, but superior athlete he is not... He's actually a LOT like Jake Delhomme, and I am not a fan of Jake Delhomme...

Can you imagine Big Ben on the dance floor? :nonod:

Steve Young was alright, but he also had a great team and scheme around him...

Young was a brilliant scrambler, stuck a knife in my heart so many times when I was a Ram fan. :(

Football is a team sport, and that includes coaching... No one player, no matter how athletic, will ever make a team succeed single-handedly...

Compare the number of starting Super Bowl QBs, winners or losers, and let me know the ratio of pocket passers to athletes... I'll take a Kurt Warner, a Tom Brady, a Joe Montana, a John Elway, or even a Trent Dilfer any day over a Donovan McNabb or Michael Vick...

No QB has played better than Jake during the 4th quarter of the 2003 SB. Patriots just had the ball last. :yesnod:

We shouldn't go anywhere near Pat White... and we won't...
