Panthers Scouting Pat White hard

this thread was going good until it got to being about race.

I agree, I'd like nothing better, KT has been pushing the envelope though, you have to admit that. And you're right, we kind of goad him because he's done it so many times before...

if pat white gets drafted by us it's because he's black?

if he doesn't get drafted by us it's because he's black?

No, but to claim his race doesnt play a part in how his potential is viewed is the 900 lb elephant alot of people on this board are afraid of. The day of shitting on versatile black QBs and being mum on the failures of the pocket passer are over. I expect you guys to do what you always do when these discussions get to real and heavy. Play stupid and act like you dont know whats going on. Im sure offline in private convos much of what Im bringing up has been discussed before.

You could take Jake Delhomme, Rodney Peete, Chris Weinke, Steve Beuerlein, Kerry Collins, and Frank Reich. Add up all their QB scrambles, yards, and TDs for their entire careers and it would still be less than Steve Young's. LOL. The Panthers have never had a QB that could move around and improvise in the pocket. Again the 1950's I need a a stiff throwing 40 passes a game philosophy has brought us how many Super Bowls?

Scot & Panthers55 have issue with lumping Steve Young with running QBs, because they fully understand how limiting labeling a QB a running QB is. For their dated theory to work, Steve Young who is one of the greatest QBs to play the game cant be associated with those guys. I never once called Young a bad passer or stated he could not pass. Just that his mobility and ability to improvise passes was his strong suit as a player.

I also stated many of you would've drafted Tim Couch over Donovan McNabb. Something many of you predictably have ignored. LOL.

Does it not cause you any pause to realize that while you put together all of those former Panthers QBs together to show how prejudiced we are against the black man that Rodney Peete is not white?...

Pat White working out for Patriots

A source has told Scout.com that West Virginia quarterback Pat White will be working out for the New England Patriots on Tuesday, March 17.

After watching White's speed and nifty moves as a runner, some NFL scouts were projecting White as a potential wide receiver who could also provide plenty of excitement as a return specialist. He rushed for 947 yards, an average of more than 81 yards per contest and ran the ball into the end zone eight times.

But the Mountaineers' signal-caller has made it clear that he could also have a successful career as an NFL quarterback.

During his senior year, White completed 65.7 percent of his throws for 1,842 yards and 21 touchdowns. He then made a statement at the Senior Bowl, earning MVP honors after passing for 126 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown strike, against some of the nation's top defenders. Then at the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-tall athlete weighed in at a very solid 197 pounds compared to his 182-pound weight at the conclusion of West Virginia's season.

At that weight, White still ran the fastest 40-time at the NFL Combine at 4.55 seconds. He posted a position-best 35-inch vertical jump, finished second in the broad jump, and even finished among the top performers in the 20-yard shuttle.

But it was how well he threw the football during position drills that really got the attention of NFL talent evaluators.

While Tom Brady is expected to be ready to resume his role as the Patriots' starter this season, his former back-up, Matt Cassell will be leading the Kansas City Chiefs offense this year. Cassell was traded to Kansas City after initially being designated as the team's franchise player, preventing him from hitting the market as an unrestricted free agent.

Currently slotted into the No. 2 role, by default, is second-year player Kevin O'Connell, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound passer out of San Diego State.

With White obviously on New England's radar, it appears that the Patriots are at least considering using one of their higher draft picks to give O'Connell a legitimate training camp battle rather than allowing him to automatically slide into the back-up role.

And for anyone who thinks it may be odd that the Patriots would be considering an athletic, mobile quarterback to be next in line behind Brady, consider the fact that O'Connell, a good athlete in his own right, ran the 40-yard dash just six-tenths of a second slower at last year's Combine than the White did this year. So while Brady is more of a pure pocket-passer, New England's showing some interest in having their No. 2 quarterback providing some mobility. That could certainly be an asset offensively as more teams experiment with running plays out of the wildcat formation.

It's still too early to tell if the Patriots are committed to using one of their early-round picks on the quarterback position, but after how quickly they lost Brady last year during their season-opener, it wouldn't be shocking to see them bolster their depth chart with one of the top players at the quarterback position from this draft class.

buddy, don't you dare to assume you know how i feel on the subject or where i'm coming from because obviously you don't.

i'm not part of any conspiracy or offline convos or whatever you are talking about and i seriously don't care about color, don't think it matters, and i get pissed when people turn what shouldn't be an issue into an major issue.

the color of you or anyone else means NOTHING to me. i don't care. believe that or not. i was raised to believe that everyone should be looked at equally and with love and do so regardless of skin color. i base opinions and judgment on what people do, not on what color they are. nothing else matters.

man, this really bugs me.

if you think you have stepped on a sensitive issue, you have. i hate it when race is made an issue but i hate it even more when i am accused of doing just that.

i would say i don't care what you think and i shouldn't but i do and not because of your skin color. i do not like that being assumed of me ever. don't do it.

Top Ten Mobile QB: Steve Young

Notice Steve Young's most memorable play is a one read then 59 yard scramble against the Minnesota Vikings in 1988. LOL.

that's not the same quarterback that won a Super Bowl. He wasn't running around, he was throwing 6 TD passes. But, maybe one improbable run is better than 6 TDs.
