2 minutes ago - by Steve Reed - Newton getting Panthers' offense down

QB Cam Newton on his comfort level with the team's offense: “It’s one less thing I have to think about each practice as far going and getting my play, knowing what my reads are and when I’m hot and where I have to slide the lines to. So that’s a positive sign,” Newton said. Panthers RapidReports

5 minutes ago - by Steve Reed - Kalil: Teammates excited about Newton's coolness

C Ryan Kalil on Cam Newton's makeup: “I think a lot of guys, media and even teammates, were curious to see how he would handle a lot that has been given to him in a very short period of time and I think he’s done well with it. He’s taken it in stride. I think he has a calm, collective cool about him that I think is inspiring and guys get excited about." Panthers RapidReports

7 minutes ago - by Steve Reed - Newton's return to stadium of BCS title no big deal

Cam Newton will open his NFL career in the same stadium where he helped Auburn win a national championship earlier this year, but he brushed that off as irrelevant. "You can’t still linger with those collegiate things in your back pocket,” Newton said. “You might as well clean your pockets out, because nobody cares.” Panthers RapidReports

Awesome.

EDIT: Another one:

7 minutes ago - by Steve Reed - Newton not seeking to get on WR Smith's bad side

QB Cam Newton on WR Steve Smith always being open: “Yeah. One man on him, (it’s) ‘I’m open,’” Newton said of Smith. “Two men on him (it’s), ‘Just give me a chance.’ Three men on him it’s, ‘No matter what, throw it up and see what happens.’ Don’t ever tell Steve that he was covered or he’ll give you one of those looks. Also, you don’t want to get on his bad side.” Panthers RapidReports

This one is hilarious... I'll add it to the OP. You can tell he already has some respect in the locker room and from Smitty if he's saying this to reporters, lol... Good stuff.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
