If they only play him in Man coverage due to lack of playbook knowledge, and Arizona assumes that they'll due the same, it'd be more beneficial for him to not play at all. If he is going to need to be that one-dimensional, I'd rather he sit than give away the D on that down.

They can still be physical and play by the rules. Being physical and covering are two different things and you have to be able to do both.

Most people forget that Darrell Green was one of the best cover CBs in the game and was only 5'9".

Rules and how the game is enforced is completely different now vs. when the fastest man in the NFL played.

and I get your point about a "cover" CB....but the rules back then still benefited him.

There are only 5 other starting CBs in the NFL 5'9 and below. The Bears Tim Jennings, Vikings Antoine Winfield, Bills Terrence McGee, Redskins Josh Wilson, and Chiefs Brandon Flowers.
