Tom Sorensen Blames The Fans

On paper, the guys production is good, but more importantly CONSISTENT. That's exactly what teams want in this league.

Lucas used to find himself making SOLO tackles a lot. That's a skill not required as much in Tampa 2.

Consistantly bad. Sorry I don't see the player you see.

Seemed to me he was saying Lucas' was a cap casualty

Common sense tells me you're right, that's the short answer. My point was that "cap casualties" happen when someone is expendable relative to the circumstances between them and their team. Identifying what Lucas' circumstances were is trickier than Sorenson would have us believe.

bad scheme is the worst excuse i have ever heard made for a corner

Really? What about "off-field distractions"? Ever heard that one used to explain why a team sucks? And believe it or not, defenders are sometimes expected to adhere to certain talking points made to them by their position coaches. Keep in mind we lost 4 this offseason. Were all of those departures amicable? Do you know, or are you guessing?

Consistantly bad. Sorry I don't see the player you see.

That seems to be the case. Mark me down as a Lucas fan.

What does Moose have to do with anything??

LOL. My fault; 89.

Maybe I am reading a different article but where does he state that the fans were responsible for Lucas' departure? Seemed to me he was saying Lucas' was a cap casualty and the outcome was want many fans were hoping for. I just don't see where he is saying the fans played a part in him being cut.

I do like Sorenson for the most part and his a$$holish attitude he seems to have, but I have to agree that article was crap and poorly written.

In the first paragraph, he implied that the fans turned on Lucas because he got whiffed a few times and that's true. He never said the team took the fans seriously on that point, he said Lucas was a camp casualty.

And then he rambled...

If he genuinely thinks fans have that much influence, then why is Jake still here? Why did it take so long for Matt Moore to start over David Carr last year? Or Williams over Foster?

I don’t disagree with him about Lucas being a decent player, and I agree that our pass rush made him look worse than he is, but to say that the fans are responsible for Lucas’ departure is ridiculous.

You left Fox out, I think there was a turning of the tide on him as well. And what about Peppers? It seems to me, if they did listen to the fans, he would already be traded and the Panthers would have looked for that trade.

What a dick hole! Hey I liked Lucas too but that's not gonna make me ignore obvious faults. Burned a FEW times? That and he down right refused to tackle with his arms. I'm not sayin' he's a bad player...we just need a more aggressive, reliable CB.

IMHO, Lucas hasn't really lost anything. None of our CBs really performed up to par. I blame that much more on defensive scheme and defensive line than I do to the CBs. Of course, none of that matters anymore...
