Tom Sorensen Blames The Fans

A Rolls Royce Bentley?? I didn't know those two companies teamed up to make a car...

Sorenson is a moron and to make the assumption that a team releases a player because the fans want them to is ridiculous. He needs to get his finger out of his a** and do some real reporting on the Panthers.

I think its the same company that makes the Corvette Mustang.

CRA,

So if Ken Lucas were in another system he'd be Deion Sanders? Blaming one player is sometimes overly simplistic, but I'm sorry, Ken Lucas was making too much money and wasn't producing enough to justify that contract.

you think Gamble would have done much better w/ Godfrey over the top? Not me. Gamble hadn't produced well enough in prior seasons to be worth the money he got. He had a very good season this year but he had been consistently abused in coverage here every season prior. There are maybe 1-5 CBs at most in the league who can look good and be worth their salary w/ no pass rush and no help.

Nobody said he'd be Deion Sanders.

He didn't fit the scheme; no one is going to produce if they don't fit the scheme.

Fox's does deserve some of the blame for playing a defense that he doesn't have the personnel for.

Sorenson assumes that Ken Lucas played no active role in his own departure. I wonder why? Its not like he interviewed the guy to find out.

Ken Lucas appeared to have lost some playmaking, but thats only appearance. He retained his starting position over other plausible candidates like Marshall till the end of the season. We fans know Marshall well. It's not like his spirit to compete for a starting role wasn't there. So, by comparison Lucas played that position better. Appearances aren't everything. No player can outplay a poorly directed play, but he can damn sure look like a fool trying.

Anyway, getting back to Lucas' real value. Anyone here think he won't have this years money matched or beaten by another franchise?

Player departures just aren't as simple as we talking heads act like they are. There are many factors: money, home, criminal record, playmaking ability, salary, age, teamwork, and personal conflicts. Any serious problem in one area can be enough. But without knowing how Lucas manages each of those, we cannot really make an informed comment about why he left, or why he was asked to leave. And we don't reqally know which of the two it was, until we hear a comment which we are unlikely to hear from our FO. Point being, we don't know poo, and neither does Sorenson.

Personally, I wouldn't want to play on the same team as Steve Smith if I were Ken Lucas. Professionally, it would be no problem. Competitively, as a football player, also no problem. But personally, If I were Ken Lucas I'd want to bash Steve Smith's head in with a ball pein hammer, especially after the superficial "apology" he gave "to the team".

My love would be gone, as it should given the circumstances. Lucas doesn't want to hear people cheering on slightly overrated 87 like he's some kind of hero, while CB is virtually unappreciated.

Maybe I am reading a different article but where does he state that the fans were responsible for Lucas' departure? Seemed to me he was saying Lucas' was a cap casualty and the outcome was want many fans were hoping for. I just don't see where he is saying the fans played a part in him being cut.

I do like Sorenson for the most part and his a$$holish attitude he seems to have, but I have to agree that article was crap and poorly written.

I would be shocked if that happens. He's just not that good. Scheme or no scheme.

On paper, the guys production is good, but more importantly CONSISTENT. That's exactly what teams want in this league.

Lucas used to find himself making SOLO tackles a lot. That's a skill not required as much in Tampa 2.

He was implying that because the fans didn't like Lucas that was the reason he got cut. Still you don't take the side of a player over fans just because he was nice to you.
